Overview
Gregg Gelb is 2018 Raleigh Medal of Arts Winner
Band leader, saxophonist, clarinetist, arranger, composer, and educator. In addition to leading his eight-piece Swing Band, La Fiesta Latin Jazz Band, Second Line Stompers (a Traditional Jazz Band/Dixieland/New Orleans) and straight ahead jazz combos, he is founder and director of the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Society, and co-founder and player with the North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra. He also directs the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble. He is recipient of a Jazz Composers Award from the North Carolina Arts Council. His bands have played for all types of events throughout North Carolina and beyond for over 20 years.

We hired Gregg, his Latin jazz quintet, and his wife to sing jazz standards for our wedding. The group was absolutely amazing! My husband and I are both professional musicians (along with several of our family members and guests). Everyone at the reception loved the performance! About
GREGG GELB is a saxophonist, clarinetist, arranger, composer, educator and band leader. In addition to leading his Small Jazz Groups of between 2 – 5 players, he leads an 8 piece Swing Band, the Second Line Stompers (New Orleans/Trad Jazz band), La Fiesta Latin Jazz Band, he is founder and player/director of the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Society, co-founder and player/arranger with the North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra, director of the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble is a recipient of a Jazz Composers Award from the North Carolina Arts Council. He and his bands have been a top choice for concerts, parties, school shows, weddings and dances throughout North Carolina for 15 years. Additional Booking Notes
We can bring our sound system for most small venues that fit up to about 500 people. We prefer venues to provide a tuned grand piano but usually bring our own keyboards.

Influences & Inspiration
There are so many big bands, small jazz groups, New Orleans/Trad Jazz bands, Latin Jazz Bands from the entire span of jazz that influence us so it is not easy to say who are the main influences. We have drawn upon many influences to derive a personal sound that is aimed at giving listeners and dancers something that is unique but based on the great traditions of jazz. Any number of musicians can be listed as our influences such as; Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie holiday, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Mongo Santamaria, Louis Armstrong, the list goes on....
