Throw a painting party! Groovy Gal Designs offers small group painting parties--great for kids birthday parties! My parties provide participants with a beautiful piece to keep and cherish forever. Got a group of girls who want to paint mermaids? Or smaller children who would be thrilled to do some handpainting to make a custom hand-print canvas? I bring the canvases and art supplies, and you supply the space and water (for brushes and clean-up). Pricing is per person. I'm in the Clear Lake area of Houston, but will travel to other areas (Katy, the Woodlands) for a small, additional fee. Evenings and weekends only (I'm a high school English teacher by day). Ms Jo was great right on time, had everything needed for the party. I would really recommend her, all our girls enjoyed paiting with her.
Mo was early to set up and brought everything! She guided the class but allowed everyone to do their own creative thing. Everyone had a blast and easy to work with!

This was a wonderful experience! The girls had a blast and it was very convenient to have at the house.
I am in a Red Hat group and we were challenged this year to find different activities and to increase our membership. I sought an activity to host at my home since January can be crazy with all of the post-holiday lulls and tight wallets. Groovy Gal came up with a couple of economical options and was extremely flexible when I changed the event by one day to accommodate a larger crowd of guests. This was a great event and it was incredibly relaxing.

I'll come early and do set-up. I have two additional tables that we can use (aside from ones you provide), but I cannot provide seating--each guest will need a chair. I'll bring all of the paints, canvases, table coverings, paper towels, paint palettes, brushes, and cups for water. We will need water access.
At the end of the party, I'll do cleanup, removing all supplies and leaving your home just as it was.

I'm also open to custom suggestions! For one recent party, the group of 10 year old girls wanted to do journals, so we found 8.5" x 11" journals which we could use with watercolors. They wanted to do a puppy on the covers, with their names. Using masking fluid ahead of the party, I drew on the puppy and the names; at the party, the girls got to watercolor over it and peel off the masking fluid to reveal the design underneath. We then did some Zentangle-style doodling lessons, and I set the girls loose with sharpies to finish designing their custom journal. It was a blast!
Other ideas--watercolors, collages, doodling on items like terra cotta or wood, making a very groovy paper bowl...the possibilities are endless!
Although I'm an English teacher by day, I've been creating art professionally since 2007 and I'm certified to teach Art. My work resides in homes throughout the U.S., Canada, and Australia, and in various galleries/venues in the Clear Lake/Houston area.
I've been told by my customers that when they approached commercial places like Paint Pub, for example, they weren't interested in hosting parties for youngsters...so...it seems that I've filled a niche, and I'm thrilled to be able to bring this service to the area.
It's a great learning experience for the kids (and adults), and it's a ton of fun! I hope that you'll consider hiring me to bring the joy of painting and creating to your next party!
