The origin of HersheKissis begins with Karis, the oldest sister. As a child, she was quite socially awkward, unable to freely express herself around other people. A common Google search for her every day after school was "How to start a conversation." Along with her social awkwardness, she never felt confident in the skin she was in, especially while attending a majority-Latino school in Southwest Detroit as a brilliant Black girl. Though she never found a direct answer to her problems on the internet, she found something better: social media. After being inspired by people who creatively expressed their ideas online, she wanted to do the same. Soon, her "How to start a conversation" became "I want to start a social media page." After asking her mom if she could start one, her mom responded, "Only if Kady and Klir do it with you. Three is better than one." So her sisters came along with her. During Karis's 5th grade year, the HersheKissis posted their first photo on Instagram. That same summer, they posted their first YouTube video. Now, we have over 230,000 followers on Instagram under the moniker, HersheKissis. Under the same name, we have over 36,000 subscribers on YouTube. On our platform, we post dances, lipsyncs, and photos to uplift the beauty and brilliance of Black people, specifically Black girls. Because Karis struggled with self-image growing up, we never wanted another girl like us to go through the same issue. In addition to inspiring people online, we also inspire those in our communities. Recently, we've been doing performances, social media workshops, and speaking engagements for events and workshops. Though people can connect with us online, they connect best with us when we're right in front of them. Many audience members who've attended our performances and workshops have either walked away with higher self-esteem, more happiness, or more knowledge. We would love for you to be our next client and would deeply put our best effort into bringing hype and inspiration to your audience!
