Hot Club of Saratoga, the premier gypsy swing ensemble in the region, reflects the spirit and style originated by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli in the 1930’s. Bringing this music alive from high energy dancing rhythms to soulful ballads and everything in-between, Hot Club of Saratoga has brought the hot swing sound to coffee houses, restaurants, clubs, swing dances, festivals, fundraising soirees, corporate functions, and private parties, as well as wedding ceremonies and celebrations.
Your want your celebration to be unique, memorable. A tasteful, energetic, upbeat style is in order. Our style of gypsy swing is just that, always delivered with class and charm.
The Hot Club of Saratoga is INCREDIBLE! They set a fun, jazzy party mood for my engagement party at the Adelphi in Saratoga. I loved how easy they were to work with, and brought all their own equipment, so I didn't have to worry about a thing. They know how to "read" the crowd, playing the right tempo and volume of music at the right moments. All my guests commented how excellent they were. They're an incredibly talented bunch that I highly recommend - how lucky are we to have them here in the capital region!
Response from Hot Club of Saratoga:

Hot Club of Saratoga was a great choice for my event last night. The music was spot on, and they were accommodating to some scheduling plans during the event. These guys are awesome, and I recommend them for big, medium, small (ANY) event.
Thanks guys!
Response from Hot Club of Saratoga:

SPECIAL EVENTS
Hot Club of Saratoga has been a favorite at conventions and corporate and institutional functions, as well as fundraising events and other types of soirees. We have provided music for wedding ceremonies, cocktail hours, and celebrations/receptions, both separately and in any combination. Our instrumentation, guitars, string bass, violin, and clarinet combined with our players background allow us the flexibility to meet most needs. Our gypsy swing repertoire and style covers a range from upbeat and lively, sure to bring a smile and irresistible desire to move, to a sweet and soulful balladry. We will gladly accept inquiries and bookings from the entire Saratoga/Capital Region and beyond.
FOR WEDDINGS
We can play various roles in your wedding ceremony and celebration depending on nature of your day.
THE COCKTAIL HOUR. Many couples have found this to be our best niche. It is a perfect time for live music regardless of the rest of your day. As part of the celebration, the cocktail hour sets the stage for the reception. It is a perfect time to put a unique touch on your special day. Our style and musical repertoire will always be different from any wedding band or DJ that might follow, and very likely any cocktail hour group you have heard. Always classy, never too loud, moving and upbeat, we provide the perfect background for you and your guests to mingle, relax, and begin to celebrate.
THE CEREMONY. Live music during guest seating and key parts of the ceremony can make for lasting impressions. Four of our five regular band members are classically trained musicians. We have provided instrumental music during ceremonies ranging from classical trios with string bass, violin, and clarinet, to numbers from our repertoire by the whole group, to folk selections.
THE RECEPTION. The traditional wedding band or DJ are popular and great choices for this party stage of the celebration. Our style and presentation for a reception is best suited for those who want a fun upbeat party to celebrate their wedding. More like a swing dance with music running the gamut from high energy toe tapping dance your feet off, to mid tempo swing tunes, to soulful ballads, Hot Club of Saratoga always provides a night of fun. Usually, we play receptions for couples who are looking for a more informal party to follow a wedding ceremony.
Probably our most common role in a wedding is the cocktail hour, often combined with music during the ceremony.
Hot Club of Saratoga is a gypsy jazz quintet that reflects the spirit and style originated by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli in The Quintet of the Hot Club of France most prominent in the 1930’s and kept alive through a long line of gypsy jazz artists since that time. Most of the tunes we play were either written by, or recorded by, Django at some time in his musical life. The instrumentation of the full quintet of the Hot Club of Saratoga, solo and rhythm guitars, string bass, violin, and clarinet/sax, allows us to explore this style throughout the range of its roots.
Depending on the size of the venue, we can generally provide our own sound system. We just need electricity. A couple of chairs without arms for the guitarists would be a nice touch. For outdoor events, we would greatly appreciate protection from inclement weather and the blazing sun. For larger venues who provide a sound system we are ready to feed the system direct outs from our individual small amps, and need a connection that provides phantom power for our clarinetist's microphone system.

Our repertoire consists mainly of tunes Django either wrote or recorded at some point. We expand from that when there are tunes we like that Gypsy Jazz players have written since Django's time or when a tune seems to lend itself well to a gypsy jazz interpretation. As you can see this repertoire includes many of the jazz standards of the 1920's, 1930's, and 1940's.

Our main influences would be Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli, and the gypsy swing artists that have carried on their tradition of hot swing born out of the gypsy tradition and the music of the 1930's and 40's swing era and beyond.
For small to medium venues, all we need is electricity.
