Hypno-Magician Jeffrey Powers

As a trained and experienced stage performer, I am articulate, dynamic and able to hold my audience's attention with charm, intelligence and humor. (Some hypnotists are skilled in the process, but not much fun to watch!)

My signature act is The Hypno Party. It's a unique bend of magic, mentalism and genuine comedy hypnosis appropriate for all ages. So it's like getting two shows...magic and hypnosis...for the price of one! The show can be as short as 45 minutes or as long as 90 minutes. The larger the group, the more good hypnotic volunteers I will have, and the more fun things I will be able to do with them.

I can also do a straight walk-around magic act for banquets and general parties.

For a corporate meeting or keynote speech, I tailor the hypnotic experience so it delivers a powerful message about motivation, better salesmanship, and overcoming subconscious blocks to action.

I spent most of my youth as the leading magic-clown on the North Shore. I no longer wear a red nose and floppy shoes...but I'm just as silly as ever! So for kids 4 through 10 years old, I do a comedy magic act specifically designed for their sense of humor and level of comprehension. I typically follow my kids magic show with balloon animal twisting, so everyone gets a balloon animal to take home.

For large family events with a number of younger kids as well as adults, I can offer a combination of kid's magic, adult magic and hypnosis all in a single show.

Jeffery Lyle Segal, a.k.a. "Jeffrey Powers," is a renaissance artist of many hats. He began performing at age 10 as clown-magician, "The Great Whodunit". He started acting and singing in musical theater at age 13. He went on to study theater and film at Stanford University, Northwestern University (B.S. in Speech) and SUNY at Binghamton (M.A. in Theater). What followed was a varied career in performing arts as a stage actor, director, singer-songwriter, and special effects makeup artist. He added hypnosis to his skill set to provide pain management for clients when he does permanent makeup (cosmetic tattoo). As a stage hypnotist, he combines his various interests in performance, magic, and illusion. He is a Certified Hypnotist (C. Ht.) member of both the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) and the International Certification Board of Clinical Hypnotherapists. When not performing, he offers private hypnosis services for pain management, habit modification, performance enhancement, and mood control. He is Chicago based, but works regularly in New York City as well.

Hypnosis can be performed under various conditions, indoors or outside. But it's easiest in a quieter environment where I can focus everyone's attention. A banquet room with a row of empty chairs for volunteers and the audience at tables or in rows of chairs is fine, and no stage is necessary. If there is light which can be raised or lowered on the volunteers separately, that's even better, as I like to dim the lights during the "induction" process whenever possible.

For the magic, I bring my own performing table. But it is helpful to have a side table. I prefer to perform my stand-up show with the audience all in front of me. I can do walk around magic in any surroundings.

I run my music cues from my cell phone via blue tooth into either the house system via a wireless XLR adapter which I provide, or I can bring my own speaker if needed. I also have my own wireless mic whose receiver connects to your board via XLR.
