Jack Smith - Trumpet Player

Jack is a team player, showing up at a timely manner and coordinating all specifics ahead of time. Jack is an outgoing player and enjoys getting to share music with audiences or on-lookers.

Jack Smith graduated from Oklahoma Christian University with a Bachelors of Arts in Music with and instrumental emphasis in Trumpet and with a minor in Business Management. At Oklahoma Christian University, Jack performed in the Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble and the OC Sweat Band. Jack participated at several Jazz festivals, adding solos on Flugelhorn and trumpet. Jack went on to Houghton College (University) finishing his Master's degree in Instrumental Conducting. Jack performed in the Houghton ensembles, including the choirs and had several of his compositions/arrangements featured in the ensembles. Jack conducted the successful show, Pirates of Penzance in the Spring of 2022. Jack looks forward to conducting future instrumental ensembles as well as directing groups of various sizes at the secondary level and post-secondary level. Jack continues to perform regularly and takes an active part in furthering his performance abilities while seeking new opportunities to learn.

Jack prefers to have all music sent well in advance of the event for preparations and an accurate quote for the event. If the venue will be dark, Jack will need lighting for any music provided and a stand. Jack leaves it to the event coordinator if any sounding will be necessary and if so, that will need to be communicated timely as well as the kind of equipment being used (and how it will be either attached or near Jack's trumpet).
