Whenever I speak at an event, I make sure to provide valuable information with actionable steps to take. Whatever the topic is within leadership, I will make sure the audience gets something they can do to make improvements. I am committed to providing more than just a motivation speech.
Because of my experience in various leadership positions within multiple career fields, I have the ability to relate to people struggling in leadership. I can address the common issues that inexperienced leaders face.
I also don't agree with death by PowerPoint or just making people sit through a presentation. I am engaging with the audience and sometimes will get the audience involved.
My audience can expect to have a good time, learn something valuable, and have steps to take for progressing their leadership abilities.
It was a Tuesday and my mother just arrived to the hospital.... Let's just fast-forward to the good stuff.
Early spring 2011 I was enrolled in college and really just didn't care about it. I had a couple friends that joined the military and they told me to just go talk to a recruiter. Seeing it as my legitimate excuse to drop out of college, I went to my local recruiter and enlisted in the United States Air Force. During my time in the active duty Air Force, I worked as a medical records technician, IT helpdesk technician, Network Operations Administrator, and Senior Network Administrator. After 5 years in the medical environment, I switched to federal law enforcement and joined the Office of Special Investigations. The best way I can describe OSI is that it is like NCIS but for the Air Force. There I managed high level felony cases that affected the Department of Defense. At my 8 year mark in the Air Force, I decided to focus on being home for my family and switched from active duty to the Air Force Reserves. I am still working as a Special Agent in OSI through the reserve unit. After I separated from active duty, I began seeking entrepreneurial opportunities. I held various leadership positions for different companies and after a few years, I realized a need. I recognized that there was plenty of leadership trainings available for upper to mid level leaders but there wasn't much available for the lower level and upcoming leaders. To me, I saw a lot of leadership training available to fix the mindsets and mistakes of the higher up leaders because they were never trained properly. The way those leaders learned were from a trial and error based experience. If the lower level and soon-to-be leaders received the proper leadership training, there would be significantly less toxic and misunderstood leaders in the world. Another issue I saw with leadership trainings was that they were dry and boring. Even when the material and information is actually good, the presenter is the one who determines if it is captured or not. As a speaker, I chose to incorporate humor, live questions and answers, and attention grabbing stories to make sure the information was actually received.
Since recognizing this need, I started the Metcalfe Leadership Company and began offering services such as leadership/business consulting, coaching, and training. I wrote a book for new leaders to learn how to lead effectively and successfully that is set to release at the end of 2022. I have coached CEOs, C-Suite leaders, business owners, and new leaders all in various career fields. I am dedicated to helping all leaders get the help they need and giving new leaders a clear direction on how to become the best leader they can be. I provide group trainings, motivational speaking, and workshops/seminars all over the world.
I look forward to helping you, your team, and your company learn and change. Whether you book me or not is fine, but please don't torture your team with a speaker who will put people to sleep with their "very extensive" slide presentation and embarrassing intro music.
I do not require any special technical requirements other than a microphone. Depending on the size of the group, I may not even need the microphone. If my clients want things like picture slideshows or smartboard presentations then I can make that work as long as it is provided by the client.
As far as my main influence, I am a follow of Jesus Christ.
As far as leadership, I am a huge fan of John Maxwell and Ed Mylett. They both have a genuine spirit that I strive to offer as well. I believe there can be something taken away from most true influencers but those two are on the top of my list.
