Jason Perrins - Session Drummer

Hello,

To whom this may concern, the following written portfolio is a brief history of my experience as a drummer.

To start off, my name is Jason Perrins, I am 22 years old, and I have been playing the drums for 10+ years now.

I’ve had the privilege of being a part of numerous modern rock bands, which has allowed me to express my creativity as a drummer alongside professional musicians. This has given me the opportunity to write complex drum parts to several written and recorded songs. Furthermore, I’ve recorded these drum parts both from home as well as a few recording studios, more notably at Raven Street Studio, a professional recording studio located in Ottawa. I have also performed numerous times on stage for several hours at a time, frequently playing at specific tempos heard through in-ear monitors.

I have a background in several different genres:

Rock
Latin
Reggae
Funk
R&B style
Modern styles of drumming seen in hip-hop

I also have experience with being able to teach drummers of various skill levels, ranging from beginner to intermediate, and build them as drummers through fundamental concepts, each lesson having a significant purpose. The experience I gained from teaching drums has allowed me to strengthen my knowledge as a drummer.

In addition, I took music class in high-school, as well as performing as the drummer in the high-school band. I learned valuable skills through high-school band, including the ability to sight read, play in time, understand rudiments, and the importance of listening to other members of the band to understand how my volume, as well as what I’m playing fits within a song.

As a final remark, I simply have a passion for this instrument. I feel I am fit for any job a buyer may have for me, as I have experience playing live gigs, playing alongside a variety of different musicians, as well as I am comfortable performing to several different genres.
