Rosie is a Los Angeles-based vocalist who sings jazz, songs of the big band era, pop, rock, and more. She performs with quartets, octets, and 17-piece bands in the L.A. area. She provides a high level of musicianship from all band members, reliable communication, and will work with you to meet specific needs or requests you might have for any event.
We had the pleasure of Rosie performing an evening of jazz and popular music at our garden concert series this summer and she filled the night with beauty and warmth beyond our expectations. Our guests were so pleased and blessed by this wonderful artist!! Highly recommend!!

We know that no two events are the same, and we pride ourselves on the ability to provide you with just the right music experience tailored to your needs. Before the event, I will have an intake call with you where we discuss length of the show, size of the group, style of music, even attire that you would like us to wear if there is a theme.
We bring all of our gear, including sound setup, arriving right when you need us (typically at least an hour before the event starts). Depending on the size of the group you hire, we'll take up either a small area of space (smallest option is singer + pianist) up to a 17-piece band, which would need chairs provided.
We start playing right on time and take short breaks between sets, if there is more than one set. I'll agree with you on the length of breaks beforehand.
If you're looking for patter, chatting and audience participation between songs, we can provide that, or if you'd rather that we just get to playing, we can keep our comments short and sweet. Either way, we'll be serving an upbeat, lively set of music in the style/era that you are looking for! All of the musicians I work with pride themselves on their skill and talent, and we put on a quality show.
When the event is over, we break down our gear and get out of your hair as quickly as possible!
Rosie Friedland is a Los Angeles-based vocalist who sings jazz, songs of the big band era, pop, rock, and more. She performs with quartets, octets, and 17-piece bands in the L.A. area.
Rosie fell in love with jazz at age 7 when she first heard Ella Fitzgerald on the radio. Since then, she has been singing her heart out to big band standards and finds joy in all kinds of jazz, from Dinah Washington to Ahmad Jamal to Antonio Carlos Jobim. She also enjoys singing more modern tunes, from the 1970s up to the present day.
With a 16-year background in choral singing, Rosie started performing with big bands in 2017. She loves the collaborative effort that goes into these shows and is constantly learning from the other players.
If you're hiring a 17-piece band, we will need 12 chairs for the horns. We bring our own sound equipment, stands, stand lights, and cords/cables. If you have specific lighting requirements at your venue, that's fine, but we don't have specific requirements, just the space needed to play.
Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Dinah Washington, Nancy Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, Carole King
