BIOGRAPHY: David James Lorenz
Born 1965 and raised in Mission, Kansas David had his first taste of music. Inspired by a neighbor, recording artist David Carr, at age 6 he began taking guitar lessons. David would also perform singing at the city community center. During high school he would study French and also travel to France as an exchange student. There he would enhance his language abilities and experience a new culture. After college he would join the United States Army. Living in Germany he would learn to speak German and his position would allow him to travel throughout Europe.
David would relocate to Colorado after returning from Europe. In 1998 David went on to start the company “International Entertainment” a company that would supply Denver and the regional area with PA equipment rentals, live music, DJ, and karaoke. It was David’s influences of music from around the world that has made this company a success.
It was in 1998 David would join alliances with local musician Kurt Linn and combined a mixture of country with classic rock. He would play rhythm guitar along with bass guitar helping in the development of the “Kurt Linn Project”. After which he joined forces with friend Gene Vigil together forging a dynamic blend of instruments, musical styles, comedy (influenced by the style of the Smothers Brothers), and a variety of music as the duo known as “Free Shot”. Between Free Shot and other International Entertainment
Engagements he performs an average of 330 shows per year.
Currently performing as Jess Wingenette David along with his solo performances has incorporated Tami Poortman female vocalist as well as a duo with Seth Taylor bringing a whole new energy and diversity into the mix blending styles of the oldies with progressive rock.
In 2010 David began hosting a radio show on 1150AM La Onda named Los Cantantes
Which originally began as a salsa program had manifested itself into a program where
Amateur singers could bring their music to the public. It is an ever changing venue
Determined by callers and artists that are invited into the studio.
In August 2011 David was invited to Los Angeles to appear on the TV talent show Tengo Mucho Talento. This would allow him to bring his music to a national level. Performing in Spanish on this program would further show his language skills as well his ability to perform in several different genres.
