Jesters Comedy Improv (formerly Meat & Cheese Improv) has performed weekly in and around the Twin Cities since 2011. Jesters is a lot like the television show "Whose Line Is It Anyway," only LIVE in front of you, with better-looking performers, a wider-variety of games, improvised song and dance numbers, audience interaction and great comedy. Jesters is also available for your private event, be it: corporate celebration; school fundraiser; fair or festival; or any event that would benefit from the presence of a professional comedy troupe.
This group was so funny and worked well with our group. They made it fun for everyone and we laughed all night! They did a great job of trying to include everyone and good subject matter related to our business. They were a lot of fun and I was told this was the best party yet by a few teammates. Highly Recommend!
Our group had a blast.
Everyone enjoyed the evening. Many comments about laughing like they haven't laughed like that in a long time. Very entertaining. They were very easy to communicate and work with.
Response from Jesters Comedy Improv:
Thank you Julie! Your group was amazingly easy and fun to work with!
I was not able to attend out holiday party but we have had reviews from employees that they had a great time and were impressed that the team really knew the company. They did their research and incorporated that to the skits and that was impressive.
We have already had others ask how to get a hold of them for their events.
Great job!
You betcha! They performed for our elementary school drama club and what a hit! Hoping we can bring you all back again and again!
This group was terrific for our professional office party. We had team members from a wide audience (age range, fun range, etc.) enjoy the show. Their ideas for customized humor were pitch perfect. I would hire them again in a second. Great price, great fun. Perfect event for us. Thank you. Jo
These guys were friendly, funny and FUN!!!
They would be great for a office party event. I would recommend them.
Since Christmas of 2011, Meat & Cheese has been performing at Yes and Food every-other month, and I have never heard a bad review from any of our customers. Their style of comedy, audience interactions, and musical scenes are always a highlight, and we- from management to the waitstaff to our customers- always look forward to Meat & Cheese performances.
For my daughter Noelle’s birthday party, we invited 20 little 6 year olds over for a day of fun. Thankfully, we also planned a comedy show with Meat & Cheese. The three of them kept the kids laughing and involved by playing silly games and sharing kid-friendly jokes, even the parents were entertained with the antics. The whole experience was well worth it to see such big smiles and hear those adorable giggles. It was so awesome to send a little happiness home as a party favor! A special thanks to “Wooly” for setting it up for us and doing such a great job with the kids!
Pulling an all-nighter couldn't have been more fun! Meat & Cheese was the full meal deal that served us well when it came to entertaining hundreds of teens during an overnight senior party. The members of the troupe tailored their performance to be humorously appropriate for the age of the crowd and the size of the group. The interactive show had would-be zombies sitting on the edge of their seats laughing their heads off. We were very impressed with the professional way that they organized the show to have a variety of short form improv games and skits that kept the 90 minute show fresh and funny. Meat & Cheese should be a part of any up-beat event!
My children (9, 12) and I were members of a group that hired Meat & Cheese. Truly, the dinner where they performed was the highlight of our trip, with the kids quoting back many parts of the evening, and even wanting to do improv themselves!
Meat & Cheese performed for our group of 51 kids and adults. Because we were coming in from out of town, Adam scoped out the venue for us beforehand, made sure the size would work and everything would be ready. When we got there, they adjusted their start time to make sure everyone got their food and was settled in, and began. Wow! Non-stop hilarity, originality, and fun! Every one of Meat & Cheese performers are amazingly talented! The adults were laughing so hard their faces were red, while the kids next to me were so excited they were up on their knees on the chairs and jumping up and down, laughing, yelling out suggestions, and elbowing me with glee, saying, “I get it! I get it!” After the show, the kids kept Meat & Cheese even longer (I know they were hungry; they had opted to eat after performing) for autographs, and they patiently signed every one with funny messages.
The best part was I was called a “genius” for booking Meat & Cheese Improv for our special night!

A normal Jesters Comedy improv experience begins with a high-energy warm-up to get the audience and players moving and ready for anything. A high-stakes game of "Paper/Rock/Scissors/Infinity," or a song improvised around an audience member, or game of Freeze Tag.
From there, we mix in different improv games: scenic games involving music, emotions, audience volunteers; joke games to deliver a quick punchline; interactive games with each other and the audience; and any number of unique scenes, interviews, guessing-games, etc.
We never make an audience member come up on stage who does not want to. We do reward our audience members who are brave enough to join us onstage; but no one will ever be embarrassed at a Jesters' show (not counting the performers, but that is what we get paid for.)
The show generally ends in a flourish. You can expect either a do-or-die guessing game; a show-stealing musical number; or a colorful spray of Silly String that leaves the performers taking their bows covered in multi-colored mildly-toxic party favors.
Jesters Comedy Improv has been selling out local bars, breweries, and theaters since December 2011. Since combining with Meat & Cheese Improv, Jesters has traveled the state of Minnesota, Northern Iowa, and Western Wisconsin, performing at live events for holiday parties, fundraisers, the Special Olympics, elementary and high schools, colleges, and more. With Jesters, we have 20 of the Twin Cities' funniest and most-talented short-form (game) improvisors and comedians ready and able to entertain you and your friends/clients/co-workers/employees any time, any place, for any reason.
Depending on the intimacy of the room, Jesters Comedy may require speaker and sound set-up for microphones (which will need to be provided, or an additional charge) and keyboard. All that is required for staging is a couple of chairs for the performers and audience volunteers.

Listing a "typical" set-list for Jesters Comedy is difficult, as each show is created based on the audience we'll be performing for. Some prefer songs to jokey-joke sets; some prefer "blue" humor to audience-participation, and vice versa. While we "hand-craft" each show based on a discussion with the event's planner, most shows follow a similar formula:
- Open with the host introducing the show, interviewing the audience, fishing for information to use later in the show.
- A musical number performed by the group.
- A group game with rapid-fire jokes, puns, etc.
- Two or three scenic games in a row, based on suggestions from the audience.
- A guessing game or game show like Jeopardy.
- Another group game.
- After winning their trust, an audience-participation game.
- Another musical game, long enough after the first so hopefully the audience has forgotten how bad we sound.
- Either a high-energy guessing game to close the show out, or one last song highlighting the show before we depart the stage.
Locally, the members of Jesters have all performed with or at: Stevie Ray's Comedy Cabaret; HUGE Theater; Yes and Food; The Brave New Workshop; and Jesters' Comedy Improv.
Most audiences who are familiar with the TV Show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" will notice just enough of a similarity to be familiar with what is going on. Those aware of what goes into filming a "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" show- to get 22 minutes of TV-airable material- will notice our 60-90 minutes shows contain no editing, no second-takes, and no fishing-for-ideas within the crowd.
