Jim McKinney

Jim was very patient and kind with a rowdy group of kids who enjoyed running around the banquet room before the event started. The kids were coralled and learned the basics of square dance as did the adults. Those who were sceptical coming in had a change of mind and came to me afterwards saying it was terrific fun!

Jim was awesome! We needed someone last minute and he was able to help us out! His fee is very reasonable! He was an excellent teacher, very friendly and fun to have at our square dance!

When other callers who were twice as close to my wedding venue said that it was too far away, Jim drove clear across the state for me. Then, aside from his square dance routine, he was happy to be the MC for our anniversary dance. We told him the song we wanted, and he looped it seamlessly, and he was fantastic at working the crowd.
With the actual square dancing, Jim and his wife were patient and clear in their instructions. My only past experience with square dancing had the caller starting with the whole crowd, baby-stepping us through one move at a time, taking it slow to learn a new move. Jim dives straight into explaining a few moves and then we're right into action. It was quite the workout, lots of fun!

Jim was on time, set up and ready to go. He helped our mostly novice group learn a few dances, and everyone enjoyed the fun.

The McKinney's are such a wonderful couple. They called a high school and middle school barn dance for us. They are kind, patient, and such amazing callers! EVERYONE (including middle school boys) had a blast! We would definitely hire Jim again :)

Had a wonderful evening with Jim and his wife, they were so friendly. Our group was ages 8-68, they were very patient and explained the square dance steps for all to enjoy. We had so much fun!!! Will definitely call them again.

Our group wasn't very confident in our square dancing abilities experience leading up to this event but as soon as Jim started coaching us (in an extremely fun and nice way), our party relaxed and kicked up their heels for a great time. Some who never square danced before ended up dancing the entire event!
Jim made accommodations for changing our day and time and even extended his set-up time to accommodate our schedule, he's a wonderful person to work with - I'm 100% planning on working with him in the future!

Jim did a great job teaching and calling square dances at my birthday party. Most of us had never square danced or maybe once. We had a range of ages from 4 to mid-80's and everyone had a great time. My friends and family have remarked since about how fun it was. Jim's instructions were simple and clear for us beginners. He was well-organized and an enjoyable person to have at our event. We may have to do this every year!

Jim came to our Hoedown Themed Family reunion held in a pavilion at a campground near Holly. Jim has a great demeanor, a very pleasant voice and an unexpected sense of humor. Everyone—young and old—enjoyed the square dance, and those that did not participate had a hoot watching the rookie dancers. Everyone commented how much fun they had learning the simple routines, and Jim was a patient instructor who brought out the best in us. Prior to the event Jim was an excellent communicator. Jim and Loretta were AWESOME!!! None of us had experience at square dancing and they were so patient with our group. We had so much fun and we are still talking about it today. I can't say enough about Jim and Loretta McKinney. I would highly recommend their services to anyone who would like to add a fun element to their event. The square dance participants could not stop smiling as they learned from Jim and Loretta. It was a great way to get participation from children all the way up to grandparents. We hope to have them at another event in the near future.

Not an easy crowd to get engaged but Jim and his wife were successful! Easy and precise instructions for a fun night of square dancing. Very patient with the not so experienced dancers. So much fun - would highly recommend!

We had a great time, Jim and his wife Loretta were so accomadating,sooo patient. They taught us new moves and we laughed and made many wrong turns before we got ourselves organized. Jim was amazing!!!! He worked with my seniors so well, is very patient and changed things up to accommodate there abilities. Most of our residents have walkers and some are in wheel chairs and Jim just changed the moves up to work for them. I would highly recommend Jim!!! Our residents loved it, had smiles on their faces and felt very, very capable and successful. Thank you Jim for a great afternoon!

Jim came to lead square dancing at our wedding celebration. He arrived early, set up, and eagerly engaged dancers. We had fewer square dancers than I thought we would have (through no fault of Jim's), and it didn't make a difference in the fun that was had! Every person I spoke with who participated had a blast! The photos are great. Jim was great with people who had no idea to square dance - kids and adults alike! I highly recommend his talents!

Jim, his wife, and band provided music and square dancing instruction for my husband's 60th birthday party. People attending were between the ages of 3 and 89 and dancing was enjoyed by everyone interested. They did a great job helping everyone have a really fun time. The music was delightful and the dancing was lively. I even had texts from party attendees the next day saying how much fun they had and what a great idea ot was to have a square dance. Jim and Loretta provided a remarkable service to us for our staff Christmas Barn Dance Party. They are both extremely skilled at their craft, and we couldn't have asked for better callers. They were patient with the many beginners, and the pace and progression of the program were perfect for us. Many of the guests were hesitant to participate, but the way in which Jim and Loretta approached the night, making the dance accessible to all, had every person in the barn dancing by the end the night. I continue to hear remarks about how great the night was, and how great Jim and Loretta were. Can't wait to book them again!
