I am a season, professional Saxophonist (Soprano/Alto/Tenor.
I play 1-hour cocktail hour for weddings about 15 songs, classic light jazz some r&b.
I play special songs at the actual wedding.
I play National Anthem at Sporting events.
I play at funerals.
I use backing tracks to perform with, I have my own equipment or can use the venue house system.
I play special music(single songs) at Churches .
I'm available to travel the MD / DE areas, depending on the expense to do so, will require my expenses to be covered in the agreement.
Wonderful musician, very friendly, flexile and fun.
We hired Jimmey for a x-mas party celebration for my husband's direct reports. What an amazing time had by all, thanks in large part to the entertainment. Jimmey showed up 30 minutes before his scheduled time and was ready to start playing at the designated hour. He was very professional and personable. Our guests are still texting us about how wonderful the entertainment was last night. One of the many things we loved about Jimmey's playing was that he played a wide range of music -- r&b, jazz, oldie but goodie, and x-mas tunes. I unequivocally recommend Jimmey for any event. Thank you Jimmey for pushing our x-mas party over the top!
Response from Jim Nixon:
Thank you so much Carline for your heartfelt words. I appreciate it so much! Thank you.

He set the mood and tone for the entire event. Captured my wedding song and other songs perfectly! Everyone asked who was the saxophonist!!
Mr. Nixon arrived ahead of time to begin preparing for his cocktail hour jazz set. Funny thing is he was a surprise gift for my Aunt's wedding and she didn't notice him setting up (jitters I guess). He was professional, courteous and dressed in his tuxedo (t-shirt)! He played continuously through the cocktail hour. His set was contemporary and engaging. My Aunt was thrilled with her saxophonist as a wedding gift. He was definitely a topic of conversation at the wedding. He added an additional touch of class to the elegance that we were striving for. I would definitely recommend Jim Nixon as a saxophonist for your event!
Response from Jim Nixon:
Thank you so much for your kind words.
I am so grateful that everyone enjoyed their selves at the cocktail hour.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to be a part of your special occasion 💕

Jim did a wonderful job, he was there on time.
Jim was great. He played for about 50 of us at a beach party. He is very professional and highly entertaining. He made the event so special! I would highly recommend Jim!!
Wow, just amazing performance. The jazz was sooo soothing. My young family was so entertained, they were lost of word. Perfect performance and very professional. Very kind to. Good people. Please hire Jim for your event and you will not regret
Response from Jim Nixon:
Thank you Peter, for your heartfelt words.
It was our pleasure! It was fun.

What do you get a man for his birthday (my dad) who has everything? Experiences!!! I cannot express enough gratitude for the level of JOY Jim provided on my dad's 81st special day. I put in a request on gigsalad and Jim responded right away. I gave him an idea of what I wanted, and he suggested an order of the songs that might enhance the experience, so we went with that and he was spot on! I trust the professionals :)
He arrived very promptly and we snuck him into my dad's sunroom. Jim waited for my cue and then began playing the traditional happy birthday song as I walked my dad from the living room to the sun room. If you could have seen the way my dad's face lit up! Pure MAGIC. Jim then played Stevie Wonder's version of Happy Birthday and then Frank Sinatra's "Take Me to the Moon"! I was delightedly surprised at the music Jim brought along to play on his phone with the Stevie Wonder and Frank Sinatra songs. It sounded like a full band, and his performance was so smooth. My dad loved it so much that he took Jim around his home and garage and driveway afterwards to show Jim all his "man toys" (haha). When my dad does that, he's VERY happy with you, otherwise, you promptly get shown the door! :)
Jim's communication was very thorough and responsive throughout, and I never worried once about whether or not he'd be reliable based on our planning. I would absolutely hire him again and have recommended him to my family and friends who saw our video. I've gotten so many compliments on Jim based on my Dad's reaction:
"He killed it!"
"So smooth!"
"Look at his [my dad's] face!"
"He was so good!"
"Awwww so sweet!"
I highly recommend Jim for your next occasion, large or extremely intimate, like ours!
(By the way, I saw a previous review from what seemed like a very difficult customer before I hired Jim, and I went with my gut and hired Jim anyway. I'm so glad that I did. My experience was NOTHING like that other customer's, and I encourage everyone to JAM WITH JIM!)
Thank you! So very much for making my wife’s birthday a special one, one that would be hard top for future birthdays! I knew you’d be a good player but after last night good is just an understatement!
If you are looking for an experienced and talented Saxophonist to take your significant other’s breathe away - look no further and book this man before he becomes impossible to get on the schedule. Thank you again and I hope you continue to make other wives happy just as mine was last night, I tip my hat to you Mr. Nixon. Nothing less Than amazing!
Response from Jim Nixon:
This was one of the best engagements ever, MR. Manzanillo was the perfect client.
Everything was set up beautifully and my area to work was well planned out and appreciated.
This was such a pleasure to perform for his lovely wife's birthday.
We all had a great time and with such a gracious host/client.
It just doesn't get any better than this.
Much kudos to you Mr. Manzanillo.
ANYTIME you need me again, just call.
An AWESOME time!
Thank you for the opportunity

I would strongly advise anyone booking Jim Not to pay full payment upfront.
Jim demanded full payment upfront before starting to play but did not fulfill his agreement as discussed with 15 songs & 1 song to memorialize my daughter & recent passing of my brother, in which was the main reason for me hiring a sax player. The experience with Jim refusing to play a song for the memorial as agreed on, was so heartbreaking because I specifically moved forward with him when he confirmed he could play a song for the memorial portion of my event. I had another person that was willing to do it but Jim confirmed/got back to me before the other sax player which is why I went with Jim , especially with it being the week of the event that I was booking for. I couldn't believe how insensitive he was when he said No with no rationale in the middle of the memorial.
He was suppose to start at 8:30pm but he did not..I had another performance (fire performance) that was scheduled to start at 9:30pm and they graciously waited patiently for Jim to take a break as he said his system wasn't working right and he did not bring his reed (instrument he needed to blow into) to play properly, mentioning all of his songs sound the same. But he took full payment in advance without fulfilling the agreement. I am definitely owed a portion of my payment to be refunded.
The fire performers from gig salad were AMAZING & had great customer service , very flexible, patient, & came very prepared. They also did not request funds upfront, they wanted to make sure we were happy and at the end we gave a nice tip for their amazing performance & service. I did not have that experience with Jim. I should've been refunded a portion of my payment for my experience & his negligence.
I also think Jim has an issue speaking to women because he was short & rude speaking with me but very calm when speaking with men..
Just a horrible experience for me..
He can play the sax but his service was horrible & he does not fulfill his agreement.
Response from Jim Nixon:
Wow! Let me be very clear.....YOU were the worse client I ever had.
YOU!!!! not me.!!!.......You didn't want to go through Gig Salad ???.
Thats a mystery in itself!!! WHY NOT!!!??
So, there was NO partial payment or deposit taken, THUS full payment was deemed necessary upon my arrival out of professional courtesy. Thats the way it's always been done, and YOU agreed to it.
BUT, against my better judgement, I agreed.
MY worse professional decision EVER!
NEVER AGAIN!!!
YOU had NO REGARD for having me jump through your hoops of uncertainty.
You kept changing times, menus and demanding right up to the last minute to change the time AS I WAS ON MY WAY. You were so occupied with yourself.
You GAVE ME THE WRONG ADDRESS ON The SAME street AS YOU LIVE! THAT WAS Delay #1
I just had a feeling this was going to be BAD and it turn out it was.
After setting up I find that I left my soprano Mouthpiece home
( I Never)..... half my songs were on Soprano. Karma..
I told your brother about it, he understood and was okay with it.
I tried to transpose songs on the fly.
But didn't feel comfortable about that.
If you would have been PRESENT we could have discussed alternatives.
BUT YOU WERE'NT, even after I kept asking for you to come see me, but you never did.
Delay #2
I asked you to make sure there was a power source, and you didn't!!! I had to bother your amiable brother about that as well... Good looking out BRO.
DELAY#3...THE power kept getting knocked out!GREAT
YOU...Totally disrespected me by not even making an effort to greet me upon my arrival WOW!
For you to attack or comment of my ability to speak to women is HEARSAY, SPITEFULL and UNCALLED for!
THE ONLY TIME I saw you was at the release of ballons ! ONLY TIME!!!
As far as me just saying no to you about the memorial song I was suppose to play. Before I could continue speaking , your brother ( really a classy gent indeed) pulled you away. I will refund you a portion back. Thank for
Jim did a wonderful saxophone serenade to celebrate my mom's birthday. The entire experience from start to finish was smooth. He was responsive, communicative and flexible to our event needs. It was a lovely surprise and my mom is still smiling about it. Thank you Jim for making my mom's birthday so special.
