My Mother-n-Laws late husband had a jazz band when they were married. Jean (my Mother-n-Law) used to travel and listen to him at all of his gigs. He passed away almost 40 years ago, and every time my mother-n-law comes to visit she talks about Jack and how she missed his playing. We ask Jimmy and his band if he would come to her retirement home and play for her 96 birthday so she could reminisce about old times and her late husband. Jimmy learned all of the songs that Jack played and even sang Jean favorite song (Jean) to her, just like her late husband did. He is the best! He and his band were the nicest people I have ever dealt with during this whole ordeal. If you want Great music from a Great band call Jimmy Leach! You will not be disappointed!!

What to Expect
Jimmy Leach performs the classic, old school music of the period from 1930s to 1970s. We play traditional jazz, swing, Latin, Bossa Nova, jazz-funk associated with Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Jobim, and Sinatra, with a touch of the 1960 and '70s with Herbie Hancock, Elton John, Leon Russell, John Fogerty, and Jimmy Webb. We are not a loud, Top 40 band. We keep it elegant and tasteful.
About
One of the most versatile and talented musicians around, Jimmy Leach has been performing music since childhood. Growing up with musician parents, Jimmy grew up surrounded by singers, piano, organ, guitar, and brass instruments. Jimmy's first stages were the churches he grew up in as well as the school auditoriums where he played trumpet in marching/pep, jazz, and concert bands and orchestras and sang in choirs and as a soloist. Jimmy has won competitions, concerto contests, and auditions that allowed him to play in great bands on US tours, Disney World, Opryland, Aspen Music Festival, and cruise ships. Jimmy has performed with Johnny Mathis, Shirley Jones, Marlena Shaw, Emmanuel Ax, Buddy Greco, T.S. Monk Jr., and many other great musicians. As a singer and trumpeter, Jimmy leads his band as they play great songs of the 20th century––jazz, swing, Latin, Bossa Nova, pop, funk, and rock. His music evokes the sounds of Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Bublé, Elton John, Billy Joel, George Benson, Billy Holiday.
Additional Booking Notes
Our sound needs are basic and easy. We are there to add ambiance, not to overpower the room. Our pianist, bassist, and guitarist have their own amplifiers, which can be joined with a larger sound system. As singer and trumpeter, I use my own amplifier just to get the sound out into the room at a moderate level. Our drummer needs no amplification in most settings.

Influences & Inspiration
Louis Armstrong and Chet Baker are two singing trumpet playing favorites of mine. I wrote my doctoral dissertation at Boston University on the singing and playing of Louis Armstrong. My first solo album was based on Chet Baker's album "Chet Baker Sings." Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole were my early influences as a singer. I grew hearing Elton John and Leon Russell, and I went through a long Billy Joel phase. When our daughter was a baby, we put her to sleep each night listening to Stan Getz/Gilberto album of Bossa Nova songs. We also keep adding pop and rock tunes by The Beatles and recently had to do "Proud Mary" by John Fogerty.
Setup Requirements
A small stage is useful if the band is to be seen well.
We have a couple of lights for dark rooms, but would need more if there is no stage lighting.
