Jocelyn was perfect for our memorial for my father. Her voice and choice of music hit the spot. She was very easy to work with.

Jocelyn was an integral part of an ongoing film series dedicated to creating awareness around environmental preservation. Hoping to work with her again very soon!
Jocelyn put on a wonderful performance for my mom. Explaining the back story of each Aria before singing them. My mom was so moved by the experience. Thank you!
My Grandparents and whole family enjoyed Jocelyn Claire Thomas and her husband's performance! They provided a beautiful singing telegram to my Grandparents! The song choice was perfect to celebrate the love my Grandparents have for one another. My grandparents have been married 76 years now and wishing them a happy Thanksgiving with two of their favorite songs from the world war II era was fun for the whole family. Not only was the performance well done, it looked like they had fun putting it together as well.
She came to sing for my 90 year old neighbor on her birthday. She was perfect. A breath of fresh air in these troubling times. All the guests loved her. Would absolutely hire her again!!
So appreciated Joceyln sharing her copious talent with us and being flexible when we had to change venues and dates due to COVID issues. She sang to us through her mask as restaurant required. What a talent! What a good sport! Highly recommend.
My husband was flown away from the surprise. The entire patrons at the restaurant were moved by the professional performance!
Jocelyn was a true professional both in performance and in managing the details of our event.
Will definitely use her services again.
This was a wonderful experience. I asked Jocelyn to sing 4 songs at my moms funeral service. Her voice was absolutely beautiful. She even brought a keyboard as the funeral home did not have a piano or keyboard. This was beyond her responsibility. She played the keyboard and sang, it was lovely..
Thank you Jocelyn for being so easy to work with and doing exactly what I asked for ......

Praised for her “staggeringly brilliant...etherial soprano” (The Source) Jocelyn Claire Thomas has engaged audiences with her haunting sound, musical intelligence, and unusual versatility. She has sung more than 40 operatic roles with Portland Opera, Tacoma Opera, Eugene Opera, Inland Northwest Opera, Opera Theater Oregon, Opera Bend, Brava Opera Theater, Cascadia Chamber Opera, Opera in the Park Portland, and many others.
Recent solo highlights include Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with the Salem Philharmonia Orchestra, “Amore” in Orpheus & Eurydice with Inland Northwest Opera, Soprano Soloist in Messiah with Harmonia Seattle, and “Nedda” in Pagliacci with Opera Bend. Ms. Thomas was a featured soloist in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with Portland’s Bach Cantata Choir, about which Oregon ArtsWatch said “Ms. Thomas shone brightly as the angel.” Other highlights include Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate with the Central Oregon Symphony, "Susanna" in Le nozze di Figaro with Tacoma Opera, and Soprano Soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah with Bravo Northwest.
An exceptionally skilled musician, and generous collaborator, Ms. Thomas has recently participated in the creation and premiere of several new works including The Dream and Free Men by Ashley Hastings, The Voice of One by Scot Crandal and Robert Bryant, Cantata Caffeinata by John Muehleisen, Tango of the White Gardenia by Ethan Ganz-Morse, Two Yosemities by Justin Ralls, and Via Lactea by Ellen Waterston and Rebecca Oswald, about which Northwest Reverb remarked "Soprano Jocelyn Claire Thomas as Peggy was also noteworthy; she has a fine, bright soprano and lent the right verve and spunkiness to a character that could have been annoying and trite in the wrong hands." Jocelyn also served as the Troupe Soprano for Cult of Orpheus, Portland’s only all-original art song and opera troupe, founded by composer Christopher Corbell. Recordings with Cult of Orpheus include Viva’s Holiday, a new opera in which Jocelyn sings the title role, and also Sacred Works I: The Emerald Tablet, which Willamette Weekly called “fervently beautiful.”
Originally from Columbia, MO, Jocelyn holds a B.M. from the Oberlin Conservatory, a M.M. and a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory. Currently based in Portland, OR, Jocelyn maintains a private studio in voice, piano, and flute. She also serves as Artistic Director for Ping & Woof Opera, which is dedicated to bringing intimate and accessible opera experiences to the Portland-area community, and making opera available to everyone through donation based admission.
