Hired Jocelyn for a private afternoon function. It was very pleasant experience from start to finish. She read the mood of the event and played just the right mix of music. Everyone loved her and she definitely picked up a few more fans for her public gigs. Would definitely use her again.

Thanks Matt, had a great time at your beautiful home!
We hired Jocelyn to play at a birthday party event that we hosted for our family. Jocelyn was an absolute delight to work with, and is beyond professional. She provided logistics, a comprehensive playlist, and answered all of our questions well in advance of the event itself. We had a number of children at our event, and Jocelyn was wonderful with them. We did some sing-alongs which created such a special evening for our family. Her talent and artistic abilities are wide ranging - do not hesitate to book her for your next event.

Jocelyn's performance for our wedding was absolutely perfect and exactly the vibe we were going for. She performed our ceremony music and cocktail hour. I was planning our wedding from out of state, and she was always happy to email about my thoughts and jump on the phone to plan it all out. Her voice is incredible - I actually found her because she performed at a friend's wedding first, and I loved her sound so much that she was my frontrunner for our wedding as well. She is extremely talented - our guests raved about her all night.

I hired Jocelyn to play at my fiancé’s birthday party at our home on a Monday evening (his actual birthday). The theme was “burgers n brew” and we had around 30 friends and neighbors attend. Everyone had a blast and commented on how fun it was to have Jocelyn perform. She provided an array of musical options, was professional, fun and went above and beyond. We highly recommend hiring Jocelyn for your next event!

Jocelyn was AMAZING!! She made our tiny COVID wedding extra beautiful and feel like a "real" wedding. Her voice is incredible, she was so professional and flexible, and I recommend her to anyone looking for someone to sing/play guitar at their wedding! I loved her music so much I told her I would be first in line to buy her album if she ever recorded one :) Can't say enough great things. Loved this so much more than doing the standard violin trio for our ceremony and band for our reception - Jocelyn played at our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception.

Thanks so much for your kind words Victoria! It was a beautiful wedding and I am grateful to have been a part of it! 😃
Jocelyn has performed a number of times at private events for my company and she continues to shine at each of them. She is so kind and provides a full song list prior to the event and during, so that anyone can request a particular song at any given time. She is engaging and people love the vibe she exudes. We love working with Jocelyn, and will continue to do so for future events!!

Thanks Keith, I love playing for your company's events and look forward to more in the future!
I was lucky enough to hire Jocelyn for a corporate event and she was the PERFECT fit for us. She arrived on time, was totally self-sufficient in her set-up, and keen on making sure the volume allowed for guests to visit while still enjoying her lovely voice. Her song list is vast and varied, so everyone in attendance got to hear songs they appreciated and I heard lots of my attendees singing along while moving to the beat. I would highly recommend Jocelyn to anyone for any type of event. She's super easy to work with and aims to please. I know I'll be inviting her to join us at future events.

Thanks so much Robin! I had a great time at your event and look forward to working with you again in the future!
I hired Jocelyn to play at our company's oyster roast (client networking event) and she was superb. We got a ton of compliments about her. Her voice is beautiful and she is very easy to work with. She sends a full song list that you are able to choose from and she supplements similar songs nicely to round out the setlist. She was very professional and arrived with plenty of time to set up and work out any kinks. I highly recommend her. I hope to hire again for a future company event.

Jocelyn was absolutely amazing and we can't recommend her enough. She played during our ceremony and cocktail hour and received rave reviews from all of our guests. She learned two new songs for our ceremony and was extremely easy to work with. Thank you, Jocelyn!

We hired Jocelyn for our Corporate Trade show and she blew us away! We were in one of several hospitality suites and the suite was backed for the full four hours she performed. I lost count of how many people asked us where we found her. Everything about her was top notch, her voice, her musicianship, her sound system, her song selection, EVERYTHING! I highly recommend her for any event you want to have an entertainer play and sing!

Thanks so much Dugan. I had a great time at your event! See you in TX - 2019! :)
WOW. Jocelyn is amazing!! We hired Jocelyn to provide music for our whole wedding - pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour, and through the reception. She provided a mix of live music and "DJ'ed" music throughout the evening. She is a gem to work with - polite, professional, friendly, warm, easy-going - and she is a treat to listen to. Jocelyn's voice is beautiful and she is so talented. She has a wide range of songs on her song list and is very open to requests - even working with my matron of honor to help her with a special musical toast! Her equipment is top-notch and she presents professionally, but with a fun, engaging attitude that people immediately warm to. So many of our guests commented how wonderful she is and how much they enjoyed listening to her. If you are looking for live music, Jocelyn is an amazing choice. Having her at our wedding set the mood and made the whole evening really shine.

Thanks so much Carolyn! It was my pleasure working with you and your family.
Jocelyn played this past weekend for my daughter's wedding in Williamsburg, Va. She played at a Friday night welcome party and at the outdoor ceremony and the cocktail hour that followed the ceremony. She was just perfect!!! I also appreciate how easy she was to work with. She is a true professional. Her voice is so beautiful. I can't say enough wonderful things about her. Everyone commented to me about what a wonderful choice we made having her at our events. Thank you Jocelyn!!!!

Thanks so much for the review Brenda. Your family and friends (and all the kids) were so much fun! I was grateful to have been asked to play for your daughter's wedding. It was such a beautiful weekend all around!
Jocelyn played a 50th birthday party at our house with about 70 people. She has a great voice, excellent equipment, and a versatile repertoire. She provided background music (using her sound equipment to cover the entire house), as well as getting some dancing going later in the evening. She is able to expand her performance beyond just herself by using loop pedals and other electronic sources. She was professional in all aspects of arranging the gig, showed up early and got set up -- a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended!

My wife and I could not have been more happy with Jocelyn. She looked Hurricane Matthew in the eyes and laughed in its face when others would have cancelled. Seriously, she brought her generator, played her heart out, and made our event something we will never forget. Musically, she is everything advertised and so much more; an extraordinary talent who is amicable, kind, and great fun for duets and requests. Her performance with our friends for our special song is a memory we'll both cherish.
Again, we cannot recommend her enough, as she is an extraordinary talent who more than stepped up in every way imaginable. Thank you so much for everything you do!

Hiring Jocelyn to play/sing at our wedding cocktail hour/ceremony/reception in Washington, D.C. was the single best decision we made to make the night special. If you're looking for an incredible talent who is super easy to work with and will add so much value to your event, hire Jocelyn now! We cannot adequately express how much we were impressed, not only with Jocelyn's playing ability and her incredible voice, but also how responsive and customer service oriented she was throughout the entire process. She was flexible to our needs and willingly learned our wedding song and always promptly responded to our numerous and probably repetitive phone calls/emails regarding play lists. On the night of the event, Jocelyn arrived early to ensure the music went through both our indoor/outdoor areas in what was a very difficult venue to cover. We had multiple family members and friends comment on how much they enjoyed Jocelyn's variety of music and incredible singing and guitar playing. For those of you getting married and knowing how it feels that some vendors just see your special night as dollar signs, you will not have that feeling with Jocelyn, nor will you regret for a moment hiring her. She is a standout performer as well as a true service oriented professional. We wholeheartedly recommend her to you!! Feel free to contact me at (602) 540-7032 and I would be happy to provide you with any additional information on just how terrific Jocelyn was throughout the planning and event.

Our December 2014 wedding reception was soooo much fun. Jocelyn kept us all entertained with songs old and new. The violinist added an additional demension. She gladly learned a special song for us to dance to. She was awesome. When we gather with friends that evening and Jocelyn's music are still talked about. Anita

Jocelyn performed on two separate occasions for my wife and I. I booked her to play our song when I proposed to my wife in Williamsburg, VA. She was a lot of help and even made a video for us to share with our family and friends. She did an amazing job and even made us both shed a few tears with her voice. We booked her for our wedding to play during the ceremony as well as cocktail hour. She played her ukulele during the ceremony and set up for the cocktail hour at the reception with no issues. She once again did an amazing job and we received a bunch of compliments on her performance. Thank you so much, Jocelyn and we will recommend you to as many people as we can!

I searched online for a whim to see if I could find a musician to sing while I proposed to my girlfriend at the fountain in Dupont Circle, in Washington, DC. I came across Thumbtack and messaged Jocelyn based on her great reviews - which are well deserved, because she was awesome! First and foremost, she is a great singer and great entertainer, wonderful at setting the stage and making an unusual situation work flawlessly. She was also a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process. I messaged her about 10 days before the proposal was scheduled to happen, and she got back to me immediately, that same night. We stayed in close communication over the next week and a half hammering out logistics. She was responsive, warm and friendly but also completely professional, and very thorough and thoughtful in terms of thinking through all the logistical issues (a surprise proposal, in the middle of the city, in a public space run by the National Park Service, with no electricity, on a weekend scheduled to have a hurricane = lots of logistical issues!). I enjoyed working with her throughout the planning process. She was also flexible in her playing and suggested that she make a few announcements along the way, which I hadn't thought of and ended up being really nice to set the scene (her timing was spot-on). She also asked if I wanted her to take a video of the proposal (something I also hadn't thought of!), which she did, and the video is greatly treasured by me and my fiancee. She is amazing and I can't recommend her enough. And we certainly hope to have her play at our wedding if we could work it out! -Lisa & Whitney

I could not possibly be happier with Jocelyn and the outstanding performance she delivered at my wedding reception. We found her online and decided to drive down from DC to Richmond to watch one of her gigs. We hired her on the spot. Over the next couple of months leading up to the wedding, she was always super responsive. She felt more like a dear friend and an honored guest at my wedding - that's how awesome this lady is.
I received so many compliments on her throughout the evening. She was absolutely great with the crowd! Her playlist is very extensive, her equipment is top-of-the line, and her voice is just "beauty."
If you want the absolute best from the early planning stage all the way to the last song and dance, you MUST hire Jocelyn.

We've hired Jocelyn a couple of times with the most recent being for my father-in-law's 80th birthday party. Jocelyn spoke to us several times prior to the event and mailed a contract for us to sign. She arrived early to set up and played for hours. She took requests from a variety of generations and was able to play/sing most of the requests. One thing is for sure, everyone loved her voice, her showmanship, personality, and professionalism. I recommend Jocelyn for any event.

Jocelyn made our day PERFECT. We found her about a month prior to our wedding (our musician bailed last minute) and luckily, our wedding day just happened to be the one day she wasn't booked yet. She emailed with me, took our phone calls to discuss any questions we had and made us feel like we were a priority. I listened to a lot of her songs on her website and thought she was incredibly talented, but nothing could do her justice live. Every person at our wedding was blown away and asked how we managed to get such a remarkable artist. It made our entire day go smoothly. From the ceremony through the end of the reception, she didn't miss a beat. Her guitar playing, her voice and her personality are beautiful. My wife and I can't say enough good things. Thank you, Jocelyn for making our day so wonderful. I would hire her a million times over...and I will if I ever have another event that requires a live musician. -Summer & Katherine Hoelter

My husband and I booked Jocelyn for our wedding in September of 2015. We used her for both the ceremony and reception. We had heard Jocelyn perform at several venues in the area and her talent is just incredible. We were also able to talk to her at those events and were captivated! We just had to have her instead of a boring "cookie cutter" DJ. Jocelyn was a thrill to work with and even learned a new song just for our special day. She couldn't have done a better job with it!
Communication with her for booking, planning, and execution was flawless. She is polite, professional, and just an absolute joy to work with.
On the big day, she was prompt, fully prepared, and delivered a knock-out performance!! Rain changed the performance from outdoors to indoors, but you would have never known with how smooth of a transition Jocelyn made. The venue was intimate with about 50 attendees and people were floored with her beautiful voice!
For those that get a chance to see her perform, GO DO IT!! And just remember, if you are planning an event with music, keep Jocelyn in mind. It will provide memories that won't be forgotten!!!
Guitarist
Jocelyn played at my husbands 50th bday party. Her music selection was fantastic. She played all the songs people requested. The volume was perfect... We could carry on a conversation but the music was still lively. She was punctual, set up and clean were seamless. She even had a spare speaker for outdoors so people on the deck could enjoy the music she was playing indoors. I would highly recommend Jocelyn!

I've been a fan of Jocelyn's for nearly 10 years and have had the pleasure of booking her at numerous private, neighborhood & Festival events during that time. Her voice is angelic & clear, her song variety is vast and she has the gift of creating the perfect set list for every show. I never tire of seeing the awe stricken faces of new fans when they hear her sing for the first time! They can't believe how crystalline & lovely her vocal tone is!
Every aspect of her show is professional. I only regret that she lives an hour away from us now, & that we don't get to hear her as frequently as we once did! Our loss has been Richmond's gain!

Jocelyn has the voice of an angel. My husband and I have regularly stalked her and attended many of her public performances. Her repertoire is quite expansive, and thoroughly enjoyable...covering everything from Etta James to Bruno Mars! You will not be disappointed.

This past summer, I held a dinner function for 100 guests and located Jocelyn through web browsing within Richmond, VA. Listening to her gift of a voice and certain repertoire, I hired her for my event. She came early, setup, began on time and WOWED my guests. She has a 200 song repertoire. Her electronic equipment produced harmonies with her voice, which created a very full sound. Her acoustic guitar abilities complemented that magnificent voice. She made my party a total success!
Singing Guitarist
Jocelyn is a Richmond gem! She was exactly what we were looking for to complete our event. She was amazing to work with and knew the exact play list to get our guests up and moving. Jocelyn is so personable. Once you meet her you feel like she is an old friend. She made our class reunion one to remember!

What to Expect
This hard working, down to earth, highly experienced solo artist will absolutely amaze you with her powerful vocals and captivating stage presence. Playing popular acoustic covers from the 50's to today and across many genres, Jocelyn's energy has a way of making her audiences feel right at home. The pure vocals and impressive range of this artist will astound you all while she effortlessly accompanies herself on both guitar and ukulele. Jocelyn shows extreme versatility with her vast repertoire but also in her ability to adapt to any and all situations; she is equally comfortable providing soft background music or putting on a show when the occasion calls. What makes her performances even more exciting is how she is able to incorporate the use of todays latest technology into her act via live looping and vocal effects pedals (while nothing is prerecorded). She knows how to add just the right amount of "extras" to make your head turn without taking over the show. You might not even realize what is going on, but your ear will tell you "hey this girl sounds great!"
Unlike many musicians in her field, Jocelyn is not a songwriter. Her entire focus is on recreating popular tunes that folks know and love. This means she WANTS to play for your event and is not simply taking gigs to pay the bills while she yearns to be discovered.
Jocelyn has invested thousands of dollars into perhaps the best sound gear money can buy. Her BOSE T1 model 2 system will dazzle your ears at any volume level suitable for your event. And if you require a location change she is able to set up multiple systems enabling a quick seamless transfer to a new space.

But wait there's more! With 9 years of experience making music with small children and their families teaching Music Together, Jocelyn also has an "in" with the younger crowd! A vast repertoire of children's tunes are always right up her sleeve as she puts on an engaging interactive "show" for kids 6 and below (and their parents) with plenty of props and rhythm instruments in tow to keep everyone entertained and having a ball.
Jocelyn is sure to bring life to any event and will travel as far as necessary!
About
Born and raised a New England girl, Jocelyn Oldham has now spent nearly half her life in Virginia. She performs full time as a solo artist all over Richmond, Hampton Roads, and beyond for any and all occasions, yet is also available as a duo with a fantastic fiddle player or her phenomenal husband on sax.
Jocelyn started her journey down south back in 1995 when she headed to Blacksburg, VA and earned a BA in Music Education at Virginia Tech. Soon after graduating she returned to Virginia to perform at the (former) Music Theatre of Williamsburg (now the Crosswalk Church). In 2004 she became licensed to teach a music class for young children called Music Together and she ran a small successful center in Williamsburg for 9 years. Jocelyn has performed with various Hampton Roads bands such as "The Rhythm Kings" and "Me & JO" but has found she is most happy on her own as a solo act. After spending 12 years in Williamsburg, Jocelyn moved to Richmond in 2013 and got married to the love of her life, Karl von Klein, who teaches music at Maggie Walker Governors School.
Jocelyn has been working as a full time professional musician since 2001, she loves what she does and is proud to provide to her clients a polished product.
