The Cadleys are one of the Northeast's most entertaining acoustic bands. Their live performances feature traditional bluegrass classics from The Stanley Brothers and Bill Monroe, ”new acoustic” songs from contemporary artists like Alison Krauss and Gillian Welch, and most of all, John’s original songs which have been recorded by national bluegrass artists, including Lou Reid, who, with Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs, took John’s song “Time” to the top of the national bluegrass charts.
The Cadleys know how to engage an audience with a rare combination of great original and traditional songs, stunning two- and three-part harmonies, solid musicianship, and the occasional bad joke.
The Cadleys performed in our Perkins Memorial Performance series on August 16, 2017. They were organized, professional, and arrived early to set up. They are a very talented group. The music was beautifully performed. Their performance was greatly enjoyed by our audience. I would highly recommend them and I would hire them again in the future.
I have known and enjoyed John's music for 50 years...his collaboration with Cathy more recently has brought about a duet of sweet sounds that reflect their relationship and craft. John is an accomplished song writer, Cathy is beginning to try her wings at writing, but the two of them singing duets is the real magic.
Response from The Cadleys | New Acoustic, Traditional Roots:
Thanks, Bill. Appreciate the kind words.

In concert you’ll hear The Cadleys perform everything from traditional mountain ballads and bluegrass classics like “Bury Me Beneath the Willow” and Bill Monroe’s “Blue and Lonesome,” to Alison Krauss’ “The Lucky One,” to the Louvin Brother’s “Cash on the Barrelhead.” And just to add a few surprises, you’ll also hear new acoustic arrangements of some favorite Beatles tunes, a generous sampling of John’s originals from his Nashville-produced solo CD, The Closer I Get, and his latest release, The Hard Years, and Cathy’s knockout version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
With the full band, expect a driving bluegrass groove with 3-part harmonies with hot mandolin and guitar picking — along with soulful duet singing that'll really set the mood. For an evening of memorable entertainment, The Cadleys are not to be missed.
The Cadleys are one of the area’s most entertaining and popular acoustic groups. Following in the tradition of great male-female duets like Ian & Sylvia and Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons, they show how the simplicity of two voices and two acoustic instruments can produce powerful music.
Their repertoire draws on the traditional bluegrass of Bill Monroe and the Stanley Brothers, the tight harmonies of the Louvin Brothers, the “new acoustic” sounds of Alison Krauss and Claire Lynch, and John’s own originals, which have been recorded by national bluegrass artists such as Tony Trischka, Jim Hurst, Missy Raines, and Lou Reid, who, with Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs singing harmony, took John’s song, “Time,” to the #1 spot on the national bluegrass charts for three consecutive months.
Their live concerts feature everything from traditional mountain ballads and bluegrass classics like “Bury Me Beneath the Willow” and “Blue and Lonesome,” to Alison Krauss’ “The Lucky One,” to the Louvin Brother’s “Cash on the Barrelhead.” And just to add a few surprises, you’ll also hear a great acoustic rendition of Paul McCartney’s “I Will,” a few of John’s originals from his Nashville-produced solo CD, The Closer I Get, and Cathy’s knockout version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” For an evening of soulful duet singing and tasty picking on guitar and mandolin, the Cadleys are not to me missed.
We supply our own sound system. We require access to power and cover (for outdoor venues).
