If there is a collective cultural memory within our society, its language is the pop music of the last 60 years.
John is fluent in that language.
With songs spanning The Beatles to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, John’s repertoire speaks directly to his audiences’ experiences, connecting their emotions with familiar melodies. And, yet, John doesn’t simply cover songs - he puts his own subtle touch to them, making them both new and nostalgic – a powerful combination that brings audiences back for more.
For John, his musical career started about three decades ago with a t-shirt that said “Future Rock Star” and a dad who jammed with his band in their home’s basement. In those moments, his lifelong love of music blossomed into a passion and a career that would put him on stages both small and large, playing and singing the language of his childhood.
Guitar, bass guitar, piano, mandolin, trumpet, voice – John plays them all. His passion for music has been a constant throughout his life – he played several instruments in high school and studied composition and voice at Bowling Green State University. In college, he played bass guitar with several bands and today plays bass guitar with two bands (The Infinity Ball and Signs of Life: A Pink Floyd Tribute) – all while pursuing his own solo work and composing music for films and projects.
It is his experiences, his love of music, that have made John fluent in our pop culture language. And, with more than 20 years of experience performing in venues from intimate cafes to theatres that seat upwards of 700 people, John has a true feel for what audiences want to hear - and what keeps them singing along. Whether it’s a small house party with John strumming out the soft chords of Bert Jansch or a lively pub where his band is jamming to My Sharona, John knows how to both engage and entertain an audience to create indelible memories.
