Plan your event knowing that the music is one thing you won't have to worry about; whether it's a party, a corporate function, outdoor/beach/island get-together, restaurant, club or coffeehouse. John is a ten-year veteran of the Central Florida music scene, but he can play anywhere in the Sunshine State - and beyond! In fact, there's a good chance that he already has:
House Of Blues - Orlando
The Biltmore - Coral Gables
Doral National Resort - Miami
Marriott Sawgrass TPC - Ponte Vedra
the Sail Pavilion - Tampa
Ron Jon's Surf Shop Cocoa Beach and Disney Springs
Hilton, Sheraton, Westin, Wyndham, Renaissance, Marriott and Westgate Resorts all over Central Florida.
My wife and I had a chance to see and here John at a local restaurant here in town and were so impressed we talked to him the next day and hired him immediately for one of our corporate events. John's musical portfolio is vast and timeless. From the 1950's to modern day country, country rock, classic rock and everything in between. You never know what he will pull out of his hat. His talent and stage presence is professional and engaging. If you want quality top notch entertainment John Nugent is your guy.
My husband and I were recommended John by longtime family friends and I couldn't have been more thankful for the recommendation! He's incredible, sweet and very professional! I'm getting ready to book him for another event now even!
Response from John Nugent:
Thank Victoria. I always fun playing there and look forward to hearing back from you.
We have John play at our establishment as often as we can. John is a total asset to our resort. He is easy to work with and an all around good person. Our guests enjoy his song selection and his company.
John is gifted in a sense that he can or feel the vibe of the crowd and change his music to what fits their desire. He also notices as guests settle in that he wants them to enjoy their time so he will play through a potential break. Most other performers would have a packed house and selfishly take their scheduled break, not John he will play on to keep the people engaged which is more important than anything. In his repertoire he holds a large, diverse fold of music for every enthusiast to enjoy. His sound is not overpowering so guests can still communicate versus having to yell back and forth. He is a nice addition to any venue.
John played at a conference we hosted during one of the networking dinners. He was a great addition to our casino night games. John played a great mix of music that everyone enjoyed. Our team would recommend him for any event!
I have been going to see Jon in all venues of central and east central Florida for the past 2 years. He plays a very diverse catalogue of music that people of generations from the 60's to 2000's can relate to.
I would not drive 10, 20 30 or 40 miles to see a performer unless it was going to be an outstanding show.
John was fantastic. My husband and I wanted a guitarist the night before our wedding. Not only did he play many of our classic favorites, but he took the time to memorize our song "Come to Me" by the Goo Goo Dolls. It was on point. He was polite, gracious, and professional. We included a tip in his check and he returned to make sure we didn't over pay him. We highly recommend him for any event.
Response from John Nugent:
Ashley, Sean; You folks were terrific. Great hosts, a fun party, and a very nice family. I should have so much fun at all my gigs! Thanks again; enjoy your new life together.
John was great to work with, he was very professional and very talented. a great guitarist with a wide range of musical style. our guests loved John and were constantly commenting about how great his entertainment was.
John performed at our neighborhood block party this past Labor Day. He put on an excellent show and we received many compliments from our neighbors concerning his performance. He had an extensive variety of music from different genres and an engaging personality that interacted well with our party goers. We plan to book him for our party next year!
Was looking for a musician to help kick off our new top deck bar, found john and what a nice fit that was. John has a nice collection of tunes and is really flexible. We will be using him again next season for sure.
We booked John for our summer street party. His excellent set list and vivacious personality was a hit with all. We will book John again as soon a s we get our party date set. What a find.
I found John on gig salad.com and listened to his demo , decided to hire him. So happy I did!! First of all he showed up an hour before to set up and introduced his self again as he called me before hand and we talked a little about his music, John was awesome! He had everyone's attention and all loved his variety of music. Great voice and strumming on acoustic and electric guitar! All my friends were asking where did I find him. Not only his great music but he was very friendly and played all our music we requested and more. We will always hire him for our parties! If you have a party and need good music John is definitely who you want to hire!! You will love everything about John Nugent. Thank you so much for meeting our expectations and more John.
We had John at a recent office open house. We had a variety of people with different musical preferences and John was a crowd-pleaser and everyone enjoyed him. He was very conscious of the sound level and helped to make our event a huge success! Thank you John!!!! We will look to John in the future as he was very accommodating and adaptable.
So happy we found John. Provides a great mix of music, even learned a few just for our event. Professional, great sense of humor, arrived early and stayed late and was a perfect addition to our event. Thanks John for making this years Nanettapalooza the best one yet!
We had a big neighborhood “tailgate” party for those of us (most of us) who didn’t want to fight the crowds! Big screen showing football, BBQ, keg of beer, etc. , everyone had a great time. John was hired to play after the game. Since he was only asked to do 2 sets, he spent a lot of his down time helping us out, moving stuff around, setup/teardown, etc. And oh yeah, almost forgot, he’s quite a musician. An all-around good find.
John played for my girlfriend’s holiday party, and man, he nailed it. We sort of wanted to mix up danceable tunes with John’s music, and he had no problem with doing that. Very easygoing guy. So we finally agreed on him doing five 30 minute sets with 30 minute sets of “canned” dance music in between. And even though he’s not a DJ, and he just let the pre-recorded tunes roll, he had a very well thought out playlist in his iPod and got everyone out on the dance floor. After 30 minutes of that stuff everyone was really ready for a break, and John’s own cover tunes filled the gaps perfectly. Like I say, he nailed it.
We hired John for an informal 40th birthday party on the beachside. Everything went without a hitch, especially the music. Good voice, good player, and had great timing with quips and small talk with the audience. He has a knack for playing music that everyone knows, but haven’t heard in a while. Switches it up a lot, which kept things interesting. My vote: you probably can’t lose with this one.
Had a large family & friends get together recently and booked John to keep everyone entertained. What can I say? He got everyone rocking and having fun. Would definitely book him again! All my guests were raving about it for days after. Suited all age groups that were there. Special requests were played out as professionally as the originals.

There sure are a lot of musicians for hire these days; I know because I am one of the many! We're all jockeying for the same work, at venues just like yours. With this much competition, it's not always easy to try to stand out from the rest.
And the odds are that you don't want your business to be known as a place where people gather to listen to stale, forgettable music. I mean, why should you pay for entertainment that isn't, after all, very entertaining?
Hopefully, that's where I come in.
I'm a full-time musician, not a "weekend warrior". So every time I perform, my reputation and future is literally on the line. Whenever and wherever I play, I give it my absolute best effort.
If you're a Club/Restaurant Manager or an Event Planner, please know that a growing list of satisfied owners, managers, event planners (and most importantly, customers!) will vouch for my skills, stage presence, and generally upbeat attitude. I’ve played everywhere from Mom and Pop style restaurants to poolside and lounge gigs at such high-profile hotels as the Biltmore in Coral Gables, the Doral National Resort in Miami, the Westin and Renaissance Hotels in Orlando, and The Sail Pavilion in Tampa. Over 800 successful events all over Florida since 2014, from Gainesville to Islamorada.
And if you're a Private Individual hosting a party, this is possibly the first (and only) time you've ever considered parting with your hard earned cash to hire a musician. You could have looked for a DJ or simply streamed songs through a stereo. Instead, you wanted that certain vibe which you can only get from a live performer. But a bad experience with a hired musician will probably make you wish you had just gotten out the MP3 player!
I hope you'll make your choice of entertainment not only on local buzz or social media hits, but also on the performer's musicianship, professionalism, ability to hold an audience, and a proven, verifiable track record.
Thank you for considering me for your entertainment needs. I will make every effort to ensure that your guests have a fun time and great music. Because after all, it’s not “just another gig!”
John Nugent has been a veteran of Florida’s music scene for over ten years. John’s long, successful track record includes such high-profile venues as The Biltmore Coral Gables, Doral National Resort Miami, TPC Sawgrass Ponte Vedra, The House of Blues Orlando, UCF, the Sail Pavilion Tampa, plus Westin, Wyndham, Renaissance, Hilton, Sheraton and Westgate resorts all over Central Florida. Over 2500 successful events in the Sunshine State since 2014. Entertaining comes naturally to John. He jokingly refers to himself as a “musical chameleon”, able to effortlessly switch genres to give the listeners what they’re looking for; everything from light instrumental music to fun poolside favorites. He’s equally skilled on guitar (acoustic and electric) and vocals. Although he’s played thousands of restaurants, parties and cocktail hours, John always stays true to his promise to never treat your event as “just another gig”.
I will provide any or all necessary equipment: stands, mics, cabling, floor electronics, mixer, PA system, and stage lighting, depending on your needs, and break music if desired in between sets. I will only require electrical power and a postage-stamp sized (well, maybe a little bigger) area for myself, and possibly room for PA speakers.
My musical gear is in top condition, and won't be an eyesore. I'll show up on-time, with a neat appearance and an upbeat, positive attitude to help you make it a successful event. Non-smoker.
It's all about your guests' satisfaction, and I'll make every effort to ensure that they - and you - have a terrific time, with a day or a night that was full of fun and good sounds. So relax and enjoy the music, knowing that you have one less thing to worry about!
