From Gretna, LA and releasing his first official studio album in Spring 2015, Jon Paul is a songwriter and rapper bold enough to proclaim the Truth of God with unashamed fervor. With unique sound and genuine energy for Christ, Jon Paul has the music and the message this generation has been missing. His inspiration? It stems from his namesake, the Apostle Paul, whom he admires for his knowledge, boldness, commitment and teaching ability. Jon Paul finds in his music the same strength, endurance and compassion that Paul had in his teaching.
Born June 3, 1986, Jon Paul had an authentic relationship with God from a young age. He was placed in a Christian school where he learned scripture and was introduced to God. But by age 13, he had started to get involved in dangerous activities and stopped going to church. Frustrated with his unstable home environment, Jon Paul’s attitude began to change for the worse. It was around this time also that he was introduced to rap. After overhearing some guys rapping in his neighborhood, Jon Paul was immediately interested and began to try his hand at writing his own raps. He soon recognized he had a talent and passion for music, continued writing and began performing his original music on stage at 20 years old. You can say music was the motivation because as he continued to work on his music he began to work on himself, as well. He got his GED, got clean and found a job in sales.
In 2009, Jon Paul became a member of a church for the first time. He decided it was time for him to become the man God called Him to be and he began working in ministry that same year. By 2011 Jon Paul was licensed as a minister and by 2013 he was ordained as an Elder. His current plan is to continue to preach the Gospel of Christ, possibly even as a pastor in the future.
Although his early musical inspiration was rapper DMX, Jon Paul has since transitioned his message into relating the Word of God and Christian experience. He has already completed three unreleased rap albums and this first official album release will signify how he has come into his identity as an artist and as an individual. His upcoming business venture, Envision, Inc. will open the door for published books, music and other avenues to empower people in Christ. The goal for his personal ministry is to help the people he encounters to fulfill their dreams and become who God has destined them to be.
Throughout each milestone of his life, Jon Paul has always asked himself: “What do I want to leave behind?” The answer is simple. He wants people to be happy they knew him. Jon Paul continues to push the mark of success in himself and in the industry and wants others to do the same in their lives. His upcoming business venture Envision, Inc. is an extension of this vision to empower people to become their best selves.
