Lopez-Yañez is a renowned operatic tenor whose career has taken him around the world singing leading roles at the world´s most famous opera houses. For over 25 years, Lopez-Yañez has entertained audiences with his beautiful lyric tenor voice and dynamic performances. In addition to singing opera on the big stage, Lopez-Yañez can be also heard concertizing sing at private parties and gala events with a wide variety of repertoire from pop to broadway show tunes.

Jorge Lopez-Yañez has distinguished himself as a leading tenor on operatic stages throughout the world. In North America, he has appeared with the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Los Angeles Opera, Canadian Opera, San Diego Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Austin Lyric Opera, Atlanta Opera, Edmonton Opera, Opera de Quebec, and in San Antonio, Texas and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
In Europe, he has appeared on the stages of the leading opera houses of Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Paris, Antwerp, Bern, Bordeaux, Canary Islands, Cologne, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Ghent, Hannover, Karlsruhe, Monte-Carlo, Nice, Pesaro, Stuttgart, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Venice, and Zurich.
Elsewhere, he has performed with the opera companies of Santiago, Chile, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Tokyo, Japan, Tel-Aviv, Israel, and Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide in Australia.
He has earned particular acclaim for his portrayal of "heroic" Rossini tenor roles and the bel-canto repertoire of Donizetti, Bellini, and Verdi, he has appeared with Monte-Carlo Opera as Ramiro in La Cenerentola, Valladolid, Spain as Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Jalapa, Mexico and in the U.S.A. for the Atlanta Opera as Edgardo, San Juan, Puerto Rico as Romeo, Opera Australia as Alfredo in La Traviata and as Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, and in Tokyo, Japan as Carlo in Linda di Chamounix.
A native of Mexico, Mr. Lopez-Yañez regularly returns to his home country to appear in Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Aguascalientes, and Jalapa. He is a graduate of the University of Zacatecas in Mexico, and studied music and voice at California State University, Northridge and at the University of Southern California. His teachers included Curt Allen, Jack Metz, and Jane Westbrook. He came to public attention as a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions in 1986 and as first-prize winner of the Loren Zachary Competition.
He may be heard on recordings of Hamlet released by Sernissima, an album of Mexican Mariachi Music, and in Ermione, release on video by NVC Arts.
