Expect excellence. My interests are both broad and nuanced. Based on the needs of my audience, I can provide anything from Baroque and classical music to R&B and jazz, from opera to hip hop and back again. I tailor each set list to the specific needs of the client. While I am extremely organized and have an array of prepared music, I am also a solid improviser and can sight read or free style with composure and poise. Most of all, expect to be entertained.
Joseph Martin is an accomplished solo pianist, accompanist, and
chamber musician. He holds an undergraduate degree from Queens College
in Piano Performance, under the tutelage of Dr. Donald Pirone. He has
accompanied singers from Queens College for the prestigious NATS
competition for opera and musical theatre, and works as a freelance
accompanist for singers from Queens College, NYU, and Manhattan
School of Music. In 2010 he participated in the Meadowmount Music
Festival, and only managed to distinguish himself by earning 1st place
in the student-run talent show, being the rapper of a 4 man group,
doing a song he composed over Paganini's 24th caprice, entitled
"Paganini Rap". Also was the musical director of a Queens College
production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" in 2011. Joseph has
been music director at St. Martha's RC church in Uniondale, Long
Island from (phone number hidden)8, assistant organist to his father, James Martin,
at Holy Family Church in Flushing, Queens from (phone number hidden)2, and is
currently head organist, cantor, and music director at Our Lady of
Mercy RC Church in Forest Hills, NY. He is a recent graduate of MSM
in the class of 2014, with degree in Collaborative Piano, under the
tutelage of Kenneth Merrill.
I can roll with anything. I can use house pianos, mice, and speakers or bring my own with prior notice.
My set list varies wildly. I can play and sing just about anything.
I have a deep and abiding love of Rachmaninoff, Eminem, Bach, Debussy, Chopin, Chromeo and Breakbot.
