I've been a professional jazz pianist for over twenty years. I currently perform regularly at the Kahala Hotel and Sarento's at the top of the Ilikai. Before living in Hawaii, I spent twelve years in San Francisco and played at the Redwood Room in the Clift Hotel, Maxfield's at The Palace Hotel, and Nordstrom (as lead pianist).
Although I often perform with a group, I have always enjoyed performing as a solo pianist as well. I just released an album of original music on solo piano called "Introspection" which is available on iTunes. I have a portable keyboard which I can bring if an actual piano is not available.
Aloha,
Joshua Kaye

Joshua Kaye began playing jazz professionally when he was fifteen years old in his hometown of Columbia, Maryland. He attended St. Mary's College of Maryland on a scholarship as a Maryland Distinguished Scholar in the Arts where he studied with concert pianist Brian Ganz. During a semester abroad in Oxford, England, he worked as a pianist in the Randolph Hotel and at Freud's cafe.
After graduating with a BA in music, he moved to San Francisco and quickly became immersed in the Bay Area jazz scene. He continued his musical studies under jazz pianist Dick Hindman and performed just about daily at the various clubs, hotels, and restaurants in the Bay Area. For several years he played every Saturday at the Sand Dollar in Stinson Beach performing duo with bassist Stu Hamm. He also released his first CD, The Joshua Kaye Quartet - Live in 2004 which featured bassist Robb Fisher, drummer Pete Riso, and percussionist Danilo Paiz who were veterans of the Cal Tjader band. His quartet and trio performed regularly at the Shanghai 1930 jazz club as well as at the Cosmopolitan Club. He could also be heard regularly playing solo or with a group in the local hotels including the Redwood Room in the Clift Hotel, Maxfield's at The Palace Hotel, and the Penthouse at the Fairmont Hotel. Besides performing, he began to focus on writing jazz and pop songs and became a published songwriter after cowriting a song with hit songwriter Andre Pessis.
In 2008, he moved to Honolulu and began performing with a new jazz trio on Fridays at The Dragon Upstairs jazz club. In 2009 he produced a record for songwriter/lyricist Laura-May Azpiazu called Midnight Smooth (feat. Joshua Kaye). He currently can be heard performing regularly with his jazz trio in The Veranda at the Kahala Hotel as well as at Sarento's at the top of the Ilikai with bassist Bruce Hamada or as a member of the guitar led group called The Quiet Band. He is also the leader for the neo-soul/jazz band Adagio which is currently featured at Jazzminds on the second fourth Thursdays of every month. When he is not performing or working on his music projects, he enjoys surfing and spending time with his wife and three children.
