Joshua Robieson is a bagpiper from the Greater Chicago area. With over 20 years of experience performing the bagpipes, he would love to provide bagpipe music at your event. He performs primarily at Weddings, Parties, St. Paddy's Day events, Funerals, Restaurant events, and Concerts. He is available for other events as well.
Joshua had GREAT communication leading up to the event. He notified me when he made it to the church for the wedding. He played absolutely beautiful and it made our wedding just that much more special!!!
Josh was so kind, helpful, flexible, and responsive during the entire process. He was outgoing and fun while at the party, took requests, was a fantastic musician, and also provided interesting information about Ireland and bag-piping. Everyone loved him.
Everyone loved it. Joshua was Awesome!
Joshua Played at our Irishfest Event Saturday March 7th. He contacted me two days before the event to touch base. He arrived at the event early. He recited a little bit of history around each song before he played. He was very open to taking song requests from the audience. Very satisfied.
Josh was very easy to work with from the start, and receptive to our needs for the wedding he played at. Everyone loved his performance at the wedding and wished he could’ve stayed the whole time! I would definitely recommend him for any event.
Response from Joshua Robieson:
Thank you for such a nice review! I would have loved to stay longer, everyone there was very nice, friendly, and fun to talk to. If you ever need another piper, please don't hesitate to message or call. Thanks again!!

Joshua was great & very talented...well worth the money!
Joshua was on time, played all requests, and was so friendly with all the guests. He is a master at bagpipping. He was fantastic! Can’t wait to have him for future events!!
Josh was very professional and accommodating. A very good experience. Would recommend highly.
Mr. Robieson is an accomplished bagpipe player. He made a memorable entrance; marching in, tall and spare, fully outfitted in Highlander garb, with the bagpipes droning and blaring. Our guest of honor is a native of Scotland and Mr. Robieson provided songs that our honoree recognized from his youth and other traditional Scottish bagpipe songs. He was gracious and accommodating. He played requests. He provided background bagpipe music during the meal. He actually gave our guest of honor some traditional Scottish shortbread that his wife had baked. Our event ran beyond the allotted time and Mr. Robieson stayed and played as long as requested. He interacted well with all of the attendees and especially well with guest of honor. Five stars, two thumbs up, ten out of ten. It really could not have been better!
Everyone enjoyed listening to him play. He followed directions to the tee. I would hire him again in a minute. Very friendly person and joined in with everyone that was at the picnic.

Robieson got his start learning the bagpipes at nine years of age with his father, Dr. Timothy Robieson (also available for events), in the Doonaree Pipe Band, South Suburbs of Chicago. He's also performed on stage for a Celtic Rock Band from Chicago with his bagpipes. He's learned other instruments such as the Mandolin, Guitar, and Ukulele, and now performs folk music locally with his friends.
Robieson is now engaged and soon to be wed to the love of his life, who is also a folk musician. With her beautiful voice, and ability to play the violin, piano, and guitar, they plan on performing together soon in their own music project.
Please message Robieson for a quote, details, or other questions. Thank you!
The main technicalities that Joshua Robieson would need to know is his time of arrival, when and where he should start performing the bagpipes, and for how long. He accepts requests as well, although with the hundreds of thousands of tunes existing, it is not guaranteed that he'll know the requested tune. Amazing Grace, Danny Boy, Scotland the Brave, and Wearing of the Green are the most requested tunes, and he performs them very well.
If he is hired to perform for more than a half hour, bottled water or a glass of water will be necessary and is requested to be provided, along with a periodic break.
The parking situation should be made clear, in case parking is difficult, requires payment, is of a far distance, or other details.
Note that if it is extremely cold or if there is inclement weather, he may need to tune his bagpipes in doors somewhere in the facility. Outdoor performances may be limited due to inclement weather as well. Note that it is possible for bagpipes to be performed outdoors in freezing temperatures, but not for very long.

I perform traditional Irish and Scottish tunes. Although I've certainly been inspired by many groups, including the Pogues, the Cheiftains, the Dubliners, the Clancy Brothers, Flogging Molly, the Real McKenzies, Flatfoot 56, the Tossers, Dropkick Murphies, and more.
The Bagpipes do not need a microphone, unless it is in a massive auditorium or stadium, and even then maybe not. The only requirement is a little bit of space around the bagpiper so he can perform. Joshua Robieson has performed in many a crowded room
