I take my role seriously. I stay within character at all times while in appearance. I will spend as much time as necessary to make sure that the experience is one of wonder and joy. I do not rush with any child. I give them all the time they want. Even if they just want to sit and stare. It is about spreading the joy.
Children are free to ask me anything, and take their time getting comfortable. To some children, it takes a little more time, while others are quick to jump up on the knee. I want every experience to be a positive one. Even for those who are still a little afraid of the Red Suit and White Beard.
Adults can interact with me as well. I do not restrict my appearances to just children's events. I will be cautious about the theme of an adult event. I will not drink alcoholic beverages while in character. I will also be cautious about being photographed in certain adults only situations or events so as to not raise questions to the true meaning of Santa Claus. Everyone is entitled to Christmas Cheer. But, I respect and honor the sacred origin of the actual meaning of the holiday even at secular events.
I am a married father of four children who range in age from 24-14. As a true believer in the Spirit of St. Nick, I always tried my best to build the mystery and wonder of Christmas Magic for my children. Composing letters from the North Pole, to spreading ashes on the floor in front of the hearth, and leaving track marks and hoof prints in the lawn on Christmas Eve, I was inspired to spread the cheer. In 2006, I met a happy couple at an area mall in Tampa, Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Claus were considered by my children to be the "real deal". To make their experience as memorable as possible, I would interact with Mr. and Mrs. Claus with my children. Hoping to create a memory for them as well so they might possibly remember my children after meeting the thousands of others each year at this large mall. Over the years, it worked. They would remember my children and their names. We would go on to see them every year for twelve years. I would actually coordinate with Santa. Making sure he had their letters in pocket when they came to sit on his lap. This furthered the reality that these two were the "Real Deal".
In 2019, we had moved from Tampa to Nashville. We made the trip 12 hours to go visit with them again. Bringing them a photo album of all twelve years of memories with my family, we did not realize it would be our last visit together. 2020 brought Covid 19 and with it, the cancellation of Santa Visits at the Mall in Tampa. It was also the last year for Mr. and Mr. Claus at the mall. But, I remained inspired to pick up the torch and carry it on.
In 2023, I was asked if I would play Santa for the first time. It was for a party at our church here in Murfreesboro, TN. This was my chance to make the Santa Experience a treasure for more children. My children had begun to outgrow the wonder for themselves. Not to disappoint, I took this request seriously. No silly cheap Santa suit and nylon beard for me. I was going to do a nice job looking the part. I did not have a full real beard yet. But, I did have the start of one. Along with a real handlebar mustache. I added a real hair beard appliance and eyebrows. I pulled it off well. It was very convincing.
The experience of listening to children's dreams, their sense of wonder and excitement at seeing Santa swept my heart. But when little Audra gave me a hug so tight and full of love, I was touched and Santa became a soul within me. It was those genuine hugs from little children who are not afraid, but rather embrace the Jolly Man in that Red Suit, that it makes it all worth it. Big smiles, and joyful laughter as they sit and tell you their story is an experience that only Santa can explain.
This season, the beard became 100% real. I added quality accessories to my suit, and laid out the designs for three different suits in the 2025 season so I will be prepared to attend various themed events. I will have a Long Coat Suit, along with custom vests. I will have a Santa Workshop Outfit with a shop apron and tools, as well.
I am open to traveling for appearances. I live in the Heart of Tennessee. Outside of Nashville, I am a short drive time to Knoxville, Chattanooga, Memphis, Louisville, Birmingham, and only about a few hours more to Cincinnati, Atlanta, or Little Rock. I am willing to travel to an event anywhere in these areas.
I am very flexible with technology needs. I do have my own chair for photographic sessions which I can bring. I do not require any special lighting or anything.
