I am a synesthetic pianist who can improvise indefinitely on colors the audience provides. I also play chill jazz and classical music. I like to engage with the audience, but I am also just as comfortable being background music. I also play music for the holidays!
Karalina is the epitome of a professional musician! My church hired her to play throughout the month of December. She did a great job working with our other musicians and was flexible with our playing style. She was on time and ready for all rehearsals and worship services. I strongly recommend her services to anyone seeking a professional, polite, and prodigious keys/piano player.
Response from Karalina Marae:
Thank you so much KT! I had so much fun playing for your church. :)

I mainly play older jazz tunes and classical music. I tailor my repertoire based on what I am hired for, and I'm capable of bringing in other players. Most of my gigging experience comes from playing in retirement homes and with classic rock, folk, and jazz bands.
Education:
Karalina Marae Coates is a 19 year old synesthetic pianist and composer from Colorado Springs who specializes in creating complex piano improvisations on the spot without prompts from any source but color. She is currently majoring in music composition at the Lamont School of Music. She has been classically trained in piano under the Royal Conservatory with multiple highly accomplished musicians. She attended the Colorado Springs Conservatory from the ages of fifteen to eighteen where she received instruction primarily from Dr. Adam Haas, a pianist who performs with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and previously with the New York Concerti Sinfonietta. She also learned music theory and composition under Dr. Thomas Wilson, the associate conductor of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and Dr. Andrew Friedrichs, a trombonist and composer with the Eastman Conservatory of Music.
I prefer if where I am playing already has a piano, but I can set up a keyboard. If I bring a keyboard, I need a nearby outlet or extension cord and somewhere reasonable to put a speaker if it's necessary.

I play a variety of jazz standards, like Autumn Leaves, Misty, Take Five, My Funny Valentine, Girl from Ipanema, Summertime. I use the Real Book as reference.
For older audiences, I'll play dance songs from the 40s onward, like Daisy Bell and Hello My Baby.
I have a book of Beatles songs I can use.
I do my best to play any requests.
My list of repertoire currently is Malaguena by Ernesto Lecuona, Gershwin's 3 Preludes, Haydn's Sonate in e minor, Chopin's Prelude in e minor.
I can improvise in a blend of classical and jazz style.
