I am a classically trained pianist and graduate of Berklee College of Music with a degree in Professional Music. I am available as a pianist and/or vocalist for live performance and studio sessions in a variety of genres, including classical, jazz, contemporary, pop, rock, r&b, oldies, and more. For live performance, I am available as a solo musician (piano, or piano/vox).

First of all, Katelyn showed up on time and was a crowd pleaser! This woman has talent!
Her repertoire included classical, such as, Chopin; jazz, Hogey Carmichael (As time goes by); popular music Leonard Cohen (Hallelujah) and variations of all three.

Katelyn definitely deserves 5 out of 5 stars! Not only does she play the piano beautifully, but she is flexible, reliable, and truly kind! She made our wedding that much more special by bringing live music to our celebration, and she was a big hit with all of our guests. She performed my processional song, our cocktail hour music, and accompanied my dad and a friend for a dedication song, all executed as I envisioned! I highly recommend Katelyn for any event!

Katelyn performed at a holiday party for us. She arrived promptly on time, quickly set up and performed wonderfully for our four hour event with only a few very short breaks. I liked that her style was very much "background" music and was not overpowering. Just what we wanted!

I found Katelyn here on Gigsalad and was won over by her fantastic videos and music. (She's not bad looking either:) I hired her for my wedding and everyone is still raving. She played and sang "I Can't Help Falling in Love with You" during our ceremony and it was so beautiful and touching. Then during cocktail hour, she played and sang classic love songs and jazz standards. She set just the right mood and sang without overpowering the mingling of the guests. All along the way she was very professional, very good with communication and had very fair prices for her services. Hire Katelyn and you will be very glad you did!!! Can't recommend her highly enough!

From classical, New Orleans Jazz, to ADELE's hits, broadway songs…you name it, she's got it covered! Katelyn showed up on time, and the party was underway. She bee-lined for the piano and started playing Christmas, holiday and appropriate classics. We could carry on conversation in the room, so volume was perfect. She took a few requests and caroling was attempted. Professional, well versed and pleasant pianist.

This was a lovely baby shower, an English afternoon tea, without games, and including our partners, husbands, and some children. Katelyn chose the music and played the piano for us, creating a beautiful welcome as guests arrived. She continued until the gifts were given and opened, playing a variety of classical and popular tunes, her own work and always at the right level of sound. Guests could talk or sit and listen, and everyone enjoyed it.

About
Granddaughter to professional concert pianist, Katelyn Benton was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and took to the piano immediately. Sparked by her Grandmother’s influence, but fueled by her own love of music, Benton began lessons after tirelessly pleading to her mother. Following a move to Colorado, Benton continued to study classical piano throughout elementary, middle and high school, picking up an interest in performing and writing contemporary music along the way. At 13, Benton began teaching and performing professionally, becoming the youngest resident pianist at Nordstrom's during their holiday season, and soon after her mother signed an affidavit that allowed Benton to perform as a musician and attend live music performances in Colorado’s 21+ bars and venues. As a freshman in High School, Benton recorded a full length album (Sycamore Street, 2001), and toured the front range with her band, playing in many of Denver’s acclaimed venues and opening for mainstream touring pop acts, and at age 17 was invited to play at The Bitter End in New York City. Benton received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music, where she graduated early with a BA in Professional Music. While in school, Benton formed a band and played in and around Boston and surrounding cities. In 2008 Benton moved to Los Angeles and began playing keyboards and vocals in local pop/rock act Nina Storey, while recording and releasing an EP (Once, 2009). In 2010 Benton began working with Scott Nickoley and Ryan Franks of Pendulum Music (Hell and Back, South Park), as a songwriter and session pianist and vocalist, while producing her own solo tracks which can be found on Spotify. In January 2016 Benton was featured on the premier of Fox’s SuperHuman for her musical ear, and ability to hear music by only watching a pianist’s hands (and not hearing a note). Benton continues to study classical music, works as a studio and live musician and as a professional composer and songwriter, and is endorsed by Kawai Pianos.
Additional Booking Notes
(For Venues With Pianos)
Solo - Piano Only: Nothing more is required!
Solo - With Vocals: For venues with a PA, I will only need a microphone and a boom with an arm. For venues without a PA, I will need outlet accessible to plug in a small amp for the microphone.
(Only Applicable for Venues Without Pianos)
I can provide my own keyboard if a piano is not available at the venue. If it's a small venue, I can also provide my own sound (1 small amp). I can also talk directly to your sound engineer or DJ plug into any existing sound system that is setup. I will need to add additional time for setup and breakdown, and need access to a loading spot as close to the venue door as possible.
If there is not a stage or a piano, I will need a space at least 6ft x 6ft to set up my own keyboard and sound.
