Hi! with over 20 years of experience, I can be hired solo or with one of my bands:
Punky Bluester (edgy alternative rock) or
Grandad's Whiskey (Feel Good Red Dirt).
My solo show features acoustic guitar & kick drum, +/- vocals. The instrumental option is perfect for private parties, breweries, conferences, etc. Recently, I've performed solo at a couple of private parties, and those gigs are the best!
Need a touch of class for your event? Impress your friends!
Please hire me!
! I'm self-contained, polite, and don't need much space. I help your party go smoothly.
Not convinced,? look at my vids here, or search YouTube for Grandads Whiskey/Punky Bluester.
We dont disappoint!
It was beautiful music along with the carriage ride. We really enjoyed ourselves.
Matt was a joy to work with! So talented! He played the guitar beautifully and was exactly what we needed for our party! If you’re having an event - hire Matt! You won’t be sorry! He’s also got an amazing voice! We had so many compliments! He even brought his setup to play our special playlist after he finished performing! He’s the best! Book him today!!!

My solo acoustic show is well suited as background music for nearly any event. You can hire me to set the mood for your formal event like an awards banquet or a wedding reception, and my music can help level up a less formal event. Imagine how your guest will feel when they enter into the room and are met with a live guitarist gently fingerpicking beatiful, elegently arranged well-known songs, as well as lesser-known music. They will feel especially welcomed to know that you didn't just plug someone's phone into the speaker system, you went a step further and hired a live musician. Then on the way home after the party, "what a class-act" they will say about you. Isn't it true?
Matt Kemp is a native Oklahoman, who acquired a love for music from his dad who was an afternoon FM DJ in Oklahoma City. Matt bought his first guitar at age 10 and has not put it down to this day. Shortly after getting his first instrument, he wrote his first “song.” It contained no chords, but it was the first step down a lifelong path. As Matt matured, he took some lessons and learned a few chords. In high school, Matt would often play hooky. While truant from school, Matt would often spend that time at home in his room to practice guitar and record his original music using a Tascam four-track cassette recorder. His future looked bleak without formal education until one day a close family friend advised that if he could finish high school, and then go to college, he would be free to study any subject that interested him. Thankfully, Matt followed the advice, because, despite an extreme amount of missed classes, he graduated high school on time with a 3.5 (B+) gpa, in 2001. And the next fall, he went to college to study music and eventually earned an Associates degree in Music Performance- Guitar from Rose State College in 2004, graduating with honors. After college, Matt’s career has been well-immersed in music and performance. He has performed with multiple music acts across the country from Louisiana to Wyoming and California to Florida, while simultaneously working a 20-year career in broadcasting, as producer and host of the popular Sunday Night Blues Cruise on KRXO (107.7 then 104.5fm in OKC). He was even a recurring cast member of the Whodunit Dinner Theatre, which is Oklahoma’s longest-running improv-based comedy murder mystery dinner show. Today, he works as an audio producer for RK1 Studios where he creates a wide variety of audio content for radio and TV, including but never limited to, Voice-Overs, audio for advertisements/film/video/animation, he produces independent artists, bands and singer-songwriters. His music has been used by national brands like 7-11, Schwab’s Meat Company & Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Stores. He has also worked to enrich his hometown music scene by promoting other musicians, serving for almost a decade as president of the Oklahoma Blues Society, which was a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and he held an adjunct faculty position at the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma. As a producer, over the years Matt has collaborated with many favorite regionally popular artists such as Miss Blues, Stephen Salewon, Kalo, Dita’s Tears, Carol Morgan, Caleb McGee, Jabee & Denver Duncan, Steve Coleman, Cara Black, Lacy Saunders, and Devin Derrick to name a few. In the fall of 2020, he formed Kempmusik LLC to function as a record label and oversee his various musical projects. Currently he performs regularly at private events around town either En Solo or with his band, Punky Bluester. From his formative years skipping school to work on music, into adulthood working for a music school, and against increddible odds, Matt will never stop doing what he loves the most. Matt Kemp is one to watch, music enthusiasts worldwide can expect many more exciting things from him yet to come.
I Can provide s sound system appropriate for most rooms, all I need is a single electrical outlet. the footprint of my equipment and the amount of space I need to perform is relatively small, and I can usually fit into one corner of a room, utilizing a space of less than 50 square feet (roughly 6' x 8'), or thereabouts.
If the venue already has a stage & sound system, that's great too! I can easily patch into an existing system, as it's just two Instrument Inputs (1/4" TS connections) and one Microphone. if the booking has requested an instrumental performance (no vocals), then I don't even need the Mic.
