Live Event Painting by artist Kenneth C Lund
Ken was born Oct 6,1976 and has lived in various regions of Maine including the Portland area, Aroostook County and Mount Desert Island. After obtaining a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 1999, Ken spent the next 10 years living in the Monterey Bay area of California.
In the mid 2000's, Lund understudied with the event painter, Greg Kalamar. Kalamar (out of Seattle, Wa) introduced the concept of event painting, a new movement to the corporate, music and wedding event scenes. Soon after, Lund began capturing live events all across the California coast and its prestigious Napa Valley region. Now living in Maine, Ken offers his painting services all across New England.
Specifically, an event painting typically lasts 3-4 hours. From the beginning of the event, Lund will create an impressionistic version of any event and finish the painting on site for all to experience. The paintings can range in size and are captured in oil. Key techniques would include attention to ambiance, perspective, color, texture and lighting.
Much of Ken's inspiration for art came from the serene landscapes of his upbringing. He also drew from artists such as Rothko, Hoffman, Cezanne, Richter, Kandinsky and of course his painting professor Anderson Giles.
