Kim's spoken word poetry is bold and impactful. She is Poet Laureate Emerita of Prince William County, Manassas & Manassas Park, VA. She is the first and only Black Poet Laureate for the region.
She is an award winning poet.
Kim’s performed at: The National Black Theater (NY), University of Pikeville (Kentucky), La Peña Cultural Center (California) and Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar (NY), among others.
She’s been a speaker at events like the Women’s Leadership Conference at Rochester Institute of Technology (NY) and the 2023 Journal of Curriculum Theorizing Conference (OH).
Kim is the author of several books. She also serves as a host/emcee.

Kim B Miller is Prince William County, Manassas & Manassas Park, VA Poet Laureate Emerita. She is the (first and only) Black Poet Laureate for that region. Her poems have been published in African Voices magazine, an international haiku anthology, a DC newspaper, Prince George’s Community College Literary & Arts Magazine and several books, websites and anthologies.
Kim has graced the stage at phenomenal venues such as The National Black Theater in New York, The Atlas Performing Arts Center in Washington, D.C., Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar in New York, the University of Pikeville in Kentucky, La Peña Cultural Center in California, and many others.
She has been awarded Haikuist of the Year at the DMV Renaissance Awards in 2021, 2022, and 2023, and received the Vivien H. Hansbury Award for her pioneering contributions to women in the creative arts. Additionally, Kim earned the DMV Best Business Award in the Arts & Entertainment category in both 2021 and 2023. (DMV=DC, MD & VA). Kim was the 2019 Southern Fried Haiku Champion.
A documentary about her life and work was produced by Voice of America (VOA), the largest and oldest U.S.-funded international broadcaster.
Kim is a dynamic speaker known for fostering growth and inspiration. She served as the keynote speaker for the 2024 Women Impact Virginia Summit. She was also the keynote at the 2023 Rappahannock Writer’s Conference at Germanna Community College and she spoke at the 2023 Journal of Curriculum Theorizing Annual Conference in Dayton, Ohio.
Kim is also a highly sought-after facilitator and host/mc.
