If you’re curious about how this is all all going to work, I’ve outlined the typical ‘steps’ it takes to get from here to there, i.e. blank wall to WOW!
1. CHAT: Quick phone conversation to tell you about my process and see if we’re a good fit!
2. BRAINSTORM: In-person meeting (or Zoom) to get a better understanding of what kind of design you’re looking for. We’ll discuss what size/style will be a fit for your budget. We can also talk timelines; i.e. when the mural will be painted/finished
3. CONTRACT: I’ll send you a contract outlining all of the details and invoice you for 1/2 the cost of the mural upfront. Once you sign it and pay the deposit, the project is a “GO” and I literally GO get to work on the design(s). (See “Design Options” below)
4. DESIGN & REVISIONS: In 5-7 days your design(s) will be ready and we’ll schedule a call or meeting to get your feedback. If there are any changes you’d like me to make I’ll do one round of revisions on one design. For any additional rounds of revisions there will be an added hourly fee.
5. APPLICATION! Hey, I’m painting your mural! A typical indoor murals take 4 or 5 days, but may take longer if it’s a bigger project. During painting I’ll film parts of the process and create a short video to post on your own website and social media pages when it’s done.
6. FINISHING UP: Your mural is finished! I clean up all debris and supplies, and I invoice you for the remaining 50% balance.
7. CELEBRATE & SHARE: We celebrate! (A new mural debut is a GREAT excuse for a party or event, btw!) I share the finished project and process video on all my socials: Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook, etc.
My name is Annie, and I’m the founder of Kiro Art Co. KIRO can mean a lot of things. It can mean “Victorious One”, or “Strong Bear'”, “Lord,”, or “The Way”. It can also mean “Bright Light”. which is pretty perfect, because that represents what art can do. Murals exist to bring LIGHT, sharp color, and playful images into public spaces so people can feel an emotional connection with the urban world around them.
I’ve been a fine artist all my life and have shown in galleries in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, as well as here in Vancouver. Before COVID I taught fine art classes in drawing, charcoal, and oil painting at Medallion Art School. I’ve also worked in graphic design, and I continue to do freelance work when I have time.
A few years ago, I painted my first mural. I’d always loved working ‘big’ but I’d never have guessed what a challenge it would be. I find murals to be the most fun and most fulfilling work I’ve ever done. I love collaborating with clients to come up with a design that we’re both excited about (like, vibrating all the way home excited), and then bringing that design to life and putting it out in the world.
Kiro Art Co. aims to be a hybrid between art worlds, taking elements from artisan painting and adding them to clean graphic design to create truly unique and inspiring pieces of art in the community.
