The sultry Argentine Tango is the original form of Tango from which all other versions stem. More than 100 years old, it is the longest surviving and most widespread social dance in history, and is still evolving to this day. Tango revolves around intimate connections between people, their communities and the intermixing of a plethora of international cultures.
Dancing tango is an experience that triggers any number of sensations and feelings; The beauty of improvising one of the world’s most complex dances with another human being is an extraordinary experience that has earned its reputation for being notoriously addictive.
The LA Tango Academy is headed up by one of the world’s most highly respected Tango trainers and coaches, Jaimes Friedgen. After two decades of touring, teaching and performing around the world, he's back in LA - his hometown.
In 2006, Jaimes founded The 8th Style School of Tango in Seattle, WA. Friedgen was also a major consultant for San Francisco’s tango school, 'Mission Tango', and L.A.’s 'Oxygen Tango', based in Mar Vista; L.A.’s first curriculum based tango school, which is thriving on the West Side of Los Angeles.
In 2013 he moved back to LA and started the LA Tango Academy with LA tango dancers Emma Bogren & Richard Cepeda.
