We are New Orleans’s newest and up and coming brass band. Lagniappe is a French word meaning something extra or in addition to or including other things. We are here to give you the best brass music – and a little extra.
These guys were pretty damn good! I didn't have time to fuss over what to ask them to play, so they just did what they do and it was AWESOME. My guests had a banging good time and were all dancing their little tooshies off. Fantastic experience that I wouldn't have traded for anything!
The band was good, but there were only 3 players and the last 2showed up as we finished 2nd line march. I was not to happy about being told that there were going 7 players and 3 show up. Special since I only needed them for 15 min and paid $600.
Response from Lagniappe Brass Band:
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. After talking with my trumpet player, he said the police rushed your parade. Original report time was 7pm, with a start time of 7:30pm. I was told the NOPD rushed to start your parade for 7:10pm, not 7:30pm. 2 horn players were running 10 minutes behind the call time and missed the parade due to the parade starting early. After review of the emails and communication there was no agreement on the number of musicians. Our typical running rate is 5 musicians for $500 for 30 minutes, which is what we supplied. The band is not to blame for the parade starting early, the parades department with the NOPD is the cause for your parade starting early. Also I was told, it was very hectic that day because of the 10 year anniversary for Katrina. I would advise next time you book a parade, don't book it on a date that is so busy for the city. Sorry you had a bad experience, we try to do the best we can in all conditions that are given.
From my first engagement on GigSalad through the completion of my event, all the band members that I dealt with were awesome and accommodating to my requests.
There was a little confusion on the date, but Chet and Ryan worked it out and the boys who showed up with Josh did an awesome job and even wished a few of us who were also having birthdays a special Happy Birthday.
These guys were great and all of the guests at my retirement agreed that Lagniappe was a true highlight of the event!
Thanks!

The Lagniappe Brass Band can provide a New Orleans flavor to your wedding. We can escort the wedding party in traditional New Orleans parade style from the church to the reception. We can perform at the reception and also do a colorful New Orleans second-line parade through the reception. We can also march the newly weds out of the reception at the end.
The sticky, fried catfish scented air is the funk that New Orleans’ own Lagniappe Brass Band breathes. Lagniappe Brass Band hits hard with its up-tempo, high energy funk that makes asses shake and sweat glands sweat. The group has logging 250 shows a year nationally and internationally. From small and authentic smoke filled and beer tinged New Orleans bars, to festivals for audiences of thousands – Lagniappe’s six horn players bring an undeniable, massive wall of sound that fills your ears and the air above the streets. Below this is the infectious Afro-Cuban bass drum pulse that alone is the foundation for your dancing. The term, “lagniappe” is a Cajun French term defined as “something given or obtained gratuitously or by way of good measure.” Mark Twain writes about the word as “a word worth traveling to New Orleans to get”. Come to New Orleans and see the band or catch them around the world – either way they will give you a ‘lil extra.
For festivals we request there be a house drum set.
