Overview
If you need jazz for your event, I have over 3 decades of experience playing solo, leading a piano duo/trio and accompanying singers and horn players in both duo or small ensembles. I've had the good fortune to have extended tenures with Al Molina, Margie Baker and Jules Broussard. I have also worked with Branford Marsalis, Frank Wess, Nate Pruitt, John Handy, Pharoah Saunders, Mark Murphy, and Richie Cole. I've performed in locales ranging from neighborhood pubs, to luxury hotels and this area's premier jazz venues like Yoshi's, Pearl's, Stanford, San Jose and Monterey Jazz Festivals.

I was so busy that I had very little time to interact with Larry. They were set up, started promptly, didn't need me to be involved at all. He selected songs that were appropriate for the small setting so we weren't overwhelmed. A number of guests remarked on how good the music was. The party ran a bit long and he offered to play past the time we had agreed to if I wanted him to stay. I would recommend Larry again.

Larry Chinn plays wonderful jazz music. He is well connected in this Bay Area music world, and he arranged a jazz quartet which did a fantastic job entertaining the crowd. They know how to play, interpret, and form a great sounding cohesive ensemble. It was also a joy just to watch them play together, and interact between themselves. These guys are pros, and it shows they have as much fun playing, as the crowd was having fun hearing and seeing them play. Highly recommended!

Larry did a great job providing music and a PA system for my father in law's 88th birthday party. He showed up well before the start time to be sure everything was in place. He provided technical help when guests needed to use the mic or plug music into his system. He was flexible with our event's meandering schedule. But, most importantly, the music he provided on his piano was beautiful - and it was perfect for the event. I highly recommend him for your event.

I hired Larry to provide Jazz piano at the memorial service gathering for the father of one of my lifelong friends. It was a bit of a scramble but Larry was fantastic. I much appreciated his communication and professionalism and of course he is an excellent player. Providing background music is often a thankless (and faceless) task but I can't count how many comments I got on the great jazz piano at the gathering. I would definitely call on Larry again and i give him my highest recommendation.

I have professional stage equipment with digital keyboard, microphones, amplification and am available for work ranging from receptions to nightclubs. I can perform as a solo pianist or put together ensembles with vocals, horn players and rhythm instruments.
