Mexican drummer, singer and composer Karina Colis graduated Summa Cum Laude in Berklee College of music. Her musical work is characterized by a diversity of rhythms and styles, combining the roots of various Latin/South
American traditions with elements of Jazz, Fusion and Pop. Although based in New York City, Karina has performed/toured with many groups at many renown international festivals and venues some include John F Kennedy Center (Gregorio Uribe Big Band) Calcutta
Jazz Festival in India (with acclaimed indian guitarist Prasanna) Circuit in Bahrain the Middle East ( Calpulli Mexican Dance Company) “The Montreux Jazz Festival” in Canada, WOMAD in UK, “Virada Cultural” in Brazil (sharing stage with mexican composer Armando Manzanero) “Babel Festival” and “New Morning” in Paris, “Primavera Festival” en Barcelona, Fusion Festival in Germany, and many more in about fifteen countries. While in New York Karina has performed at Birdland Jazz Club, Bar 55, Smalls Jazz Club, Lincoln Center m, Museum of Art, and Zinc Bar to mention a few.
Some of Karina’s work is portrayed in more than tewnty albums including "Quiero" by Coco Mama (Latin/Jazz/world) Maricahi Flor de Toloache (Mexican music) "Cumbia Universal"Gregorio Uribe Big Band,."Canibalismo” by Chicha libre, “Mango” by Alex Alvear (sharing credits with award winner Paquito D Rivera), “De Tierra” by Mili Bermejo, “Despierta mi niño” by Jarana Beat just to mention a few. Karina's compositions have been featured in Raw Channel, a syndicated television series. The show can currently be seen in the United States in over
73 broadcast affiliates in almost 80 million U.S. homes.
