“Laughter is the best medicine,” and I use it for fun sessions that relieve stress, energize groups and stimulate team building.
Experts from places like the Mayo Clinic recommend Laughter Yoga to relieve stress, strengthen the immune system and stimulate the circulation. It is also a surefire way to energize any meeting from corporate conferences to hospital workshops.
My programs are equally effective whether delivered in person or online, and are mostly a series of playful laughter exercises designed to prompt deep breathing whether sitting or standing. Even the most buttondowned staffers can’t help but be delighted, invigorated, and pepped up to get back to business.

The problem was straightforward: How do you keep a group of women used to meeting in person monthly connected when both winter and pandemic fatigue was settling about? In hindsight, the answer was simple, you embrace ZOOM and set-up a Laughter Yoga with Alexa session.
The hour our group spent with Alexa met our objectives of lifting moral, connecting with and energizing our group, but it also went further. That hour sparked joy, created deep laughter, produced endorphins, and genuinely made the group feel happy. It was an hour of investment with continuing returns. Now two months later, in a group or together among individual members what we experienced in that hour long session continues with thoughtful signs of caring from a Ta-Da entrance or a laughter exercise. Perhaps also viewed as an inside joke among members, our hour with Alexa has brought the group closer.

-A brief summary about the origins, benefits and applications of Laughter Yoga
-A self-assessment before the session (How do you feel? 1-10)
-A gentle body warm up
-This is the heart of the program - engagement in Laughter Yoga exercises, deep yogic breathing exercises (involving the 4 elements of joy: laughter, dancing, singing and playfulness). It is pure laughter and fun - there are no yoga poses or ribald jokes.
-Slow down - mindfulness meditation
-A reassessment after the session (How do you feel? 1-10)
-Follow up discussion Q & A
Each of my programs is customized so that it is meaningful, fun, healthful, educational and uplifting for the participants. A safe space is created for everyone to have fun and connect through laughter. There are special exercises that boost self-confidence and foster team building. Participants leave the sessions smiling and energized, and they have learned how to overcome stressful moments and sour moods with the power of laughter.
A one hour session is very effective in measuring the efficacy of how a participant feels before and after and allows for a full experience.
Different length laughter experiences can also be custom tailored to the client's needs. Examples include 15-20 minute Laughter Blasts at conference intervals; 30 - 45 minute sessions; extended 90-180 minute workshops, Powerpoint learning presentations, 8 -16 hour trainings, retreats etc. Alexa is also available for one-on-one coaching.
About
Alexa Fong Drubay is a Laughter Yoga Master Trainer from the Philadelphia area, who studied in India with the founder of Laughter Yoga, Dr. Madan Kataria. She is the Executive Director of Laughter Yoga USA .org and has conducted laughter programs for a broad spectrum of organizations including frontline healthcare workers, insurance companies, cancer groups, the US Institute for Peace, National Institutes of Health and Dell Technologies. She can lead virtual sessions, in-person or hybrid.
Alexa also trains recreational therapists, social workers, nurses, doctors, activity directors, health coaches and others to become certified Laughter Yoga Leaders and Teachers. She is a graduate of Notre Dame of Maryland University and has lived and worked in NYC, Switzerland, France and China.
Additional Booking Notes
Mostly virtual sessions, although Alexa is now accepting certain in -person/out-door engagements. Proper safe-distancing enforced to ensure that we remain safe as we laugh.
In larger settings, client must be able to provide a a wireless microphone, access to the music system and speakers, an IT assistant for possible powerpoint presentation.

Influences & Inspiration
The way I present is unique. It is a highly interactive and experiential session dependant on the participants willingness to laugh. As a leader, I create a safe space for experimental laughter and playfulness. It is a structured session where there is an introduction, assessment, warm up, full laughter experience, mindfulness meditation, assessment and Q & A at the end.
Participants leave this session feeling uplifted, calm and re energized for whatever comes next.
The assessments have shown that positivity and feelings of confidence and positivity increases are measurable at the end of the session.
