Leading any organization relies on leading people. Brett talks about his journey through private business, nonprofit, and government leadership. His stories emphasize the importance of education, teachers, leadership, and role models in helping him break the generational cycle of poverty. He shares a viewpoint from both sides of the coin, exposing educators and policymakers to viewpoints that are typically trapped in the spiral of silence rather than voice out loud.

Brett delivers engaging speeches that redefine how we think about leadership. By focusing on the importance of good followership, follower behavior, and followership theory, he weaves stories from his life that inspire participants to think about their "why." Brett also facilitates engaging team development sessions to foster growth and understanding through Socratic methods, such as asking the right questions. In real-time, he can devise narratives about organizational culture, team dynamics, and gap assessments that prepare participants to tackle the issues facing their personal, professional, and leadership lives.
With a decade of professional experience in public policy, education, and nonprofits, Brett is a leadership expert and educator who has published commentary and research on topics such as civic education, Social Security, doctoral education, community-based learning, and college readiness. A former local school board member, housing authority commissioner, and university student government president, his life has been dedicated to public service at the local level. The first-generation college graduate has earned a bachelor's in political science and communication, and a master's in public administration, and is nearing the end of his PhD journey in leadership. He is a Certified Nonprofit Executive who has helped organizations create cultures of excellence and improvement through strategic thinking, mission focus, and a people-first orientation.
Quality lighting and sound is all that's needed. Depending on the organizer's goals, a slide screen may be useful. Brett prefers to improvise at the mic and customize his sessions to the client's needs.
