Lucky Penny is comprised of two talented sisters that were born and raised in Delaware, Ohio. Leslie Alexander and
Caitie Thompson are both passionate musicians who love what they do and have an awesome time doing it! They specialize in complex harmonies and high energy performances that please crowds of all ages! Perfecting covers from the Golden Oldies to todays Top 40, these girls know good music, and how to deliver it to the crowd.
Leslie and Caitie have been singing together all of their lives. Most of the time growing up you could find them at the kitchen table singing the night away. They started singing in an all girl group during junior high and high school. Shortly after they formed a band called "The Rip City Rockers" and won the first local Delaware County Battle of the Bands.
The rest as they say, is history. A few short years down the road, and Lucky Penny emerges.
Caitie's soulful voice and perfect ear make her the musical mastermind behind this powerhouse duo. Caitie is the younger of the two sisters and her passion is percussion. She can slay grown men behind a drum set. She started playing guitar at the age of eight and by the age of eleven she was playing drums. You can also add piano to her many talents. She was the drummer for The Rip City Rockers, an award winning rock band she formed while in high school.
Caitie Thompson graduated from Capital University in 2010. She is a professional concert percussionist who has performed with many highschools, middleschools, churches and other ensembles such as COBB (Central Ohio Brass Band). She is former a member of COSO (Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra) and Hiuchi Taiko Ensemble. She was the percussion instructor for Buckeye Valley High School for five years, and currently teaches private students via her online studio. Caitie is now based in Nashville, TN and can be seen playing in some of Nashville's most famous venues, like the Exit/In.
Leslie is the older of the sisters and the lead vocalist of the duo. Her passions are acting and singing. She started her thespian career at an early age and performed throughout highschool as a thespian and with the symphonic and show choirs. After her school days, Leslie won several primary roles and two major leading roles on stage. Her leading credits on the stage are Suddenly Last Summer where she held the lead role as "Catherine Holly, and she played "Eliza Doolittle" in Pygmalion. She held a duel primary role in a stage production of Stone Cold Dead Serious that garnered her rave reviews from the Columbus Dispatch. She has been featured in local and national television commercials as well as three independent films. She was the female lead in the indie film Break and also starred with Jerry Springer in the indie film And The Winner Is.
Leslie rattles many a stage with her high energy and intense bluesy-rock vocals. She has an ear for harmony and is a natural born performer. Whether she is singing a soft ballad or belting out some good old rock and roll, she engages the crowd and keeps the energy up.
Leslie and her husband John welcomed their second son in 2012. Congratulations to the happy family!
