Lyn Dillies

Master illusionist Lyn Dillies has mesmerized audiences of all ages throughout the U.S. and Canada for over three decades. Hailed as the finest female magician in the land, Lyn’s engaging personality, along with some of the most spectacular, eye-defying illusions in magic today wows her audiences with an unforgettable experience.

Appearing on numerous television shows, Lyn has shared the stage with such notable entertainers as Marvin Hamlisch, Jeff Dunham, Bill Engval, Crystal Gayle, and Mikhail Baryshnikov. Using an original concept that took years of planning, Lyn performs her "Magic At The Symphony" program live with symphonies all around the country including several performances at Lincoln Center. This program combines the majesty of classical music with Lyn’s breathtaking illusions. Some of the symphonies she has performed with include the San Diego Symphony, Virginia Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Utah Symphony, North Carolina Symphony and New York's Little Orchestra Society.

One of the proudest moments of Lyn’s career was when she became the first illusionist in magic history to make two live Asian elephants, Ruth and Emily, appear in succession. The event was held outdoors in front of a live audience for the grand opening of the Buttonwood Park Zoo in her hometown of New Bedford, MA. It took eight months to prepare for this incredible spectacle and required more than 5,000 square feet of fabric, 300 feet of truss, two cases of red seedless grapes (the pachyderms' favorite treat) and a little sleight of trunk!

The Society of American Magicians deemed this illusion such an unprecedented event that it is documented in the organization’s national archives. A return engagement with the elephants marked another magic milestone when Lyn successfully predicted a week in advance what Ruth and Emily would paint on a large canvas with paintbrushes held by their trunks.

Recently Lyn produced “Learn Magic with Lyn,” the first in a line of DVDs aimed at empowering children to perform their own illusions for friends and families. The 53 minute live-action DVD features eleven uncomplicated but impressive tricks any child can learn within minutes using ordinary, everyday household items. "Learn Magic with Lyn" has received several awards from national organizations that honor the best in children's entertainment and educational products.

In 2008, Lyn created and produced Your Vote Is Magic, a public service campaign to promote voter awareness for the Presidential Election. As the finale for her year long endeavor, with her message being "You Don't Have To Be A Magician To Create Change. No Matter Who You Choose - Your Vote Is Magic!" Lyn magically produced a donkey and elephant out of thin air, the two live mascots of each party. She received a citation for making a significant difference in voter registration in Southcoast Massachusetts. In the summer of 2012, Lyn launched a book she wrote, called Your Vote Is Magic! which chronicles her fascinating journey of conjuring up the illusion along with an overview on voting history. Lyn is currently presenting her exciting Your Vote Is Magic! program around the country to teach students and citizens about civic responsibility and the importance of voting in their lives. It is now available on video.

In 2009, Lyn was very honored and humbled to receive the Merlin award from the International Magician's Society for Female Illusionist of the Year. And in 2013, she was the first female illusionist to ever be presented with the prestigious Milbourne Christopher Award from the Society of American Magicians for her contributions to the art of magic. It’s the equivalent of receiving an Academy Award in the magic industry. Past recipients include David Copperfield, Penn and Teller and Siegfried and Roy.

Lyn continues to amaze audiences with incredible illusions such as “Metamorphosis”, “The Window”, “Human Diffusion” and “The Twister”, just to name a few. But illusion is only half of The Magic Of Lyn, the lady herself is the other half. From the moment she first appears on stage, Lyn puts the audience on the edge of their seats and in the palm of her hand. This slender blonde banters and dazzles her way into the hearts of all who witness her Houdiniesque feats. It is no wonder why Lyn Dillies is one of America's top illusionists. Lyn's mission has always been to inspire and empower as many lives as possible with her magic. She hopes she can make a difference in yours!

Lyn's show is fairly self-contained. For larger scale shows, she travels with her own 35' truck, complete with crew, sound and lighting. For her solo show, for groups over 100, she would require sound. The staging for her larger illusion show in a ballroom /function room depends on the group size and how elaborate the show is.
