LYNN PENNINGTON | HOUSTON TX, AUSTIN TX, DENVER CO, and EAGLE COUNTY CO

I began my photographic career in high school as the newspaper photographer. After college, my photographic career took a back seat to running a computer network company for 20 years with my husband, Paul. In 2011, Paul and I were able to move on from technology to our next life's journey. Paul is now a ski instructor for Vail Resorts and I am a photographer. I fell into sport and event photography by doing work with our schools and churches. I soon realized this was the type of work I wanted to do. I have always approached photographing events much more in the style of documentary. I capture the story, I don’t create it, letting the narrative of an event unfold.

Of course, some assignments require staged photos (nothing wrong with that) but overall my emphasis is on candid and spontaneous whenever possible. Many events, particularly corporate events, require a mixture of candids, some posed photos, as well as branding images, crowd shots, food, and decor. I believe it’s all about getting the right mix of shots to tell the story.
