When booking with Mad Honey, we want to make sure that we add just the right touch to your gathering by giving special attention to our roster, set list, attire, and more. We'd love to be able to book right off the bat, but we find that a better working relationship comes from talking through the event before "nailing things down," which we should be able to do within a few days. We have lots of songs to choose from and can adjust to fit any size stage and/or budget.
We began performing together as a trio in 2017, after a chance performance opportunity. Our vocal blend, akin to Parton, Harris, and Ronstadt, is the core of the ensemble and what started as three classically-trained voices with guitar has expanded to include multiple instruments and additional players - friends of the band who buzz in and out as their schedules allow.
Our cover set list includes music from all genres, reimagined for our unique sound, and often focusing on women's issues, perspectives, and voices. A friend has said, "The Beehive Band is what would happen if Alanis Morisette and John Denver had triplets." An apt description! We also have a small list of original works by Amy, that center on stories of women's mid-life and love, and rely heavily on trio harmonies. Brenda Stursma, Emily Wadhams, and Amy Luckenbill are the core vocalists and play a variety of instruments. We rely heavily on Kyle Knapp's lead guitar, Sam Perkins' gorgeously improvised violin, and Greg Ahl's inventive rhythmic foundation. You can find out more about everyone in the Bios tab.
We play regularly at wineries and speakeasies, churches and coffee houses, festivals and family functions, summer series in the parks and political events.
We can be found on our website at (link hidden) , on Facebook, and on our YouTube channel.
The more you can provide for us, the more cost-effective your event with us will be. For the full band, here's what we need:
- 20' wide x 15' deep performance space, sufficient to hold performers and instruments
- lighting with a span of control sufficient to light the performers, but also dimmable, if necessary
- access to the performance space 2 hours prior to the performance (system set up, sound check, and rest period)
- a secure place to keep our belongings, or space adjacent to the performing area for us to keep our belongings in plain sight
- a PA system that is optimized for musicians, both vocal and instrumental (acoustic), including:
3-6 vocal mics including all necessary chords and hook-ups
2-4 acoustic guitar hook-ups, including DI boxes to balance signals
4 electrical plugs (extension bars are ok)
2 stage speakers sufficient to fill the space
2-4 feedback monitors
- a sound person to set up the system, optimize our sound at sound check, and monitor the system throughout the performance
If you are not able to provide the system, we can bring one and we will need:
- a performance space that is protected from the weather (indoors or covered)
- 20' wide x 15' deepperformance space, sufficient to hold performers, instruments, and sound system
- ready access to 2 outlets (direct wall access within 15 feet of the performance space or 2 industrial power cords running to the performance space)
- the same as above for access to the space, etc.
