Magician James Jordan

As a client I believe you have the right to expect me to arrive at least 15 minutes early, possibly even earlier depending on the type of event.
For roving and walk around events I will perform for the full time requested, even in situations where it seems like no one is watching I can animate the site with some simple crystal ball or hat jugging, just to give people something to look at.
When it comes to my stage act I can provide all the technical equipment needed to transform even just a corner on some ones basement into a comedy club type stage with lights, sound, house music and ambiance. If you prefer to keep it simple I can easily make any type of environment work.
If your looking for a smaller act to fit into a schedule of performances, like a variety show or cabaret. I will provide you with everything I need you to have well in advance of the show so that you have time closer to performance day to deal with all those little last minute problems that always pop up. Trust me I know all about how stressful show time can be for the director, my full knowledge and experience is available to you any time you need it.

For 5 years James has hosted his own monthly vaudeville variety show in Calgary, making him an experienced and professional MC with lots of funny jokes and quick tricks to keep the show moving at a comfortable pace. Every month he writes a new 15 minute act to open the show. After 5 years the material available to him could entertain a cruise ship of people trapped at sea for weeks :-) Of course he has his favorites which have made it into his regular stage show and Fringe Festival favorite "Vaudevillian"

A couple of those favorite acts; his hilarious and suspenseful "Most Dangerous Card Trick" where James, blindfolded and barehanded sifts through a minefield of mousetraps to find one signed card. His cups and balls routine has won many awards from magic contests and theatre festivals, it's an original take on a classic carnival game the whole audience gets to play together.

The close-up magic he has perfected is perfect for table side entertainment during a banquet or mingling with guests during cocktail hour. Card-tricks and comedy for all ages, quick and non-invasive, so the guests can continue mingling with each other and talk about the amazing magic trick they saw earlier on.

James can also sculpt some of the most amazing balloon animals that even the grown-ups at the event will be asking for. From deadly cross-bows to pretty mermaids, super heros and cartoon characters James has been a regular fixture in a few restaurants in Calgary since 1995. There are families that have made it a tradition to see him every month, which means James is always learning/creating new sculptures.

After producing his own variety show for 5 years, and being the artistic director of multiple Calgary street festivals, James knows how stressful the day of the event can be. Let him take a little bit of that burden off your shoulders and look like a rock star for inviting him to your event.

At its most technical my show is still very easy to manage. Remote control sound cues, basic wash for lights and the occasional "Can I please have the house lights up"
I can easily provide my own sound system, two options. A full two speaker and sound board set up, or a simple battery powered amp for quick set up and tear down.
Lights can be provided as well, simple two trees with 6 parnels for a basic wash.
I even have a back drop and wing banners for some additional eye candy.
Of course this is all optional, 15 years of professional street theatre have helped me develop a performance that can be as simple as opening my prop case and starting the show as soon as I get to the venue. Music cues and microphone are not needed in this type of performance I can project my voice as long as there is no other noise to compete with.
