Maia Castro-Santos: Circus Artist

I am able to offer 3-6 minute solo acts or ambient performance for up to 3 hours with 10 minute breaks every half hour.

Maia is a New England based circus artist and aerialist. She began her training at the New England Center for Circus Arts (NECCA) at 10 years old and toured with the Circus Smirkus Big Top Tour from (phone number hidden)1. After being named Valedictorian for Northfield Mount Hermon’s (NMH) class of 2020 and completing two years at Columbia University as a Cognitive Science major specializing in Human Computer Interaction, she realized that she would rather be professionally upside down. During her time at Columbia, she was President of the Columbia Circus Collective (CCC), and performed and directed for the Fall Cabaret (2021), Circus Hamlet (2021), Spring Cabaret (2022), and Phobias (2022). Maia specializes in hula hoops, aerial hoop, dance trapeze, invented bar apparatus and dance pole. She has performed for the New York Circus Project, Cirque Us, Catamount Arts, Muse ABCirque, and more! She has most recently performed for Cirque Us in the northeast/midwest tour of Cirque Us Stories (Fall 2024), as well as performances of Ragtag (Summer 2022), One Man’s Trash (Spring 2024), and the Cirque Us Benefit Show (Spring 2024). She is inspired by exploring dark feminine power through the combination of athletic and artistic disciplines.

Hula Hoop - 8' x 8' minimum floor space, 10' minimum ceiling height
Aerials - I will provide the apparatus, in-venue rigging must be installed by the client, if requesting a free standing aerial rig performance I need three other people to set up with me. 15' minimum ceiling height.
