From being featured as “(link hidden)’s Artist of the Week”, appearing on “BCAT” (Brooklyn Community Access Television) for performances and interviews, being a featured artist on “Hot 97” for their campaign called “Put a Chill on Violence” and working to better the youth of New York City with his non profit organization "The Malik Champloo Foundation" shows he is a force to be reckoned with.
Malik champloo is a great rapper and performer, every time I have seen him perform he puts his heart into it. each song is filled with energy and lyrics are grounded in reality he speaks about things people can relate too. He is a hybrid by combining real life events and struggles and mixing them with a little anime flair. Malik Champloo is an artist you should want on your show he is that breath of fresh air people need to hear.
Malik Champloo is different in that he is not following the West Coast upheaval, but instead, like a New Yorker rapper should, is focused on his own image and ideas. It could never be said enough that he is your average, anime loving, otaku, outside of the mothers basement stigma. His songs are uplifting, he is a leader in the community with the founding of his 501 C3 and most importantly he sticks to his message. Maybe he'll bring Brooklyn back!
I've had the pleasure to see Malik Champloo perform a handful of times in bar/lounges, in shows and more recently at a kick-off event for a non-profit organization. He really commands the audience and tells a story through his lyrics. I don't listen to a lot of hip-hop these days because the lyrics aren't uplifting, they degrade women and glorify risky lifestyles and making bad choices. But Malik Champloo really embodies what I always assumed the spirit of hip-hop truly is. His beats are great and his lyrics have meaning. I love watching him perform. I love listening to his music. Very entertaining, but also very professional. I will definitely continue my association with him and keep going to his shows/performances!

Jaquan *Malik Champloo* Sanders was born In Queens New York June 22, 1989, but was raised in Brooklyn New York for most of his childhood. Living with his older sister, younger brother and single mother, Malik lived a sheltered yet free childhood.
At the age of 13, his artistic side began to emerge. Writing poetry and sketching became his pastime (along with playing video-games and listening to various types of music). This ultimately kept him from the harsh life-style most teens from his generation chose to live. After entering high school, Malik's outlook on music, style and life changed.
For years, Malik loved Japanese cartoons called Anime (such as Dragonball Z and the Gundam series ). His appreciation for the far fetched stories and beautiful art-style drew him in thus causing him to studying the Japanese culture. In addition to his favorite genres of music such as Nu-Metal (Linkin Park) House (Daft Punk) and Hip-Hop (Nas), Japanese music joined the fray and undeniably took over. Due to the over glorified lifestyle of guns, drugs and disrespect to women, Malik's love for Hip-Hop/Rap died.
A glimmer of light brought Malik back home after experiencing an unexpected combination in 2006. "Samurai Champloo" debut in America. This award winning show captured his eyes and ears with a combination of beautiful visuals and unique a soundtrack. A song named "Counting Stars" by the late Jun Seba aka Nujabes, inspired him to mix his poetry with the distinctive sounds of Nujabes. Out of respect for his favorite anime, Malik took the name Champloo and made it his own.

My influences range from American artists like Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Lupe Fiasco (CRS), Nas, Talib Kwali, The Clipse, Charles Hamilton, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Coldplay, The Gorillaz, Eminem, Nneka and The Red Hot Chili Peppers (all of these artists/ban just don't simply write or compose music, they tend to put vasts amount of emotion and passion into their work). My MAJOR influences honestly would be from Boa (UK), Japanese artists, producers and composers like Utada Hikaru, Nujabes, Back-On, Nobuo Uematsu and Yoko Shimmomura. I've been listening to their music for many years and their composition is completely different from the norm.
