Marina studied formal music composition in Barcelona and later moved to Helsinki, where got involved in music research about artificial intelligence and algorithmic composition.
Her final thesis consisted of the creation and analysis of a genetic algorithm for harmonic and melodic development, which lead her to receive the Fulbright Award.
It is considered one of the world's most prestigious scholarships with more than 60 Nobel Prizes, 80 Pulitzer Prizes, 70 McArthur Fellowships, and 40 heads of state as fellow Fulbrighters during the program’s 75-year history. She then moved to Los Angeles and graduated from the USC Screen Scoring program, where began her career as a media composer and creator.
Marina started composing music at age 3, with her early pieces premiering in the local scene of her region in Spain. She began writing stories at age 4, earning awards for her dark storytelling style.
With a lyrical singing background, Marina adapts the former vocal techniques with the new performance aesthetic. Her voice has been described as "clear with a velvety quality, but with a surprising ability to change her color at will".
She has a severe hyperacusis syndrome that affects her hearing, and her music thrives from a very personal sampling and sound design style.
