Marc comes to us as a welcome breath of fresh air in the field of inspirational country music. His mom recounts that she received news in the summer of 1989 that she was expecting a second child, a miracle in itself, considering that the doctor had prepared her in 1985 to believe that she would not be able to have any more children. Fortunately, we serve a miracle-working God. But this was just the beginning of the miracle. As she was carrying her baby, she came down with cervical cancer. Three doctors advised her that she was full of cancer, but there was nothing they could do until after the birth of her baby. Then, one evening, her water broke. “Oh, no! It isn’t time,” she thought. Her baby was a month early. But our God is not only a miracle-working God; He also has perfect timing. She was rushed to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. They stopped the labor and kept her in ICU, and she came down with a condition called Beta Strep. They told her that due to this condition, they would have to allow her labor to resume. A nurse came in and prepared her heart by saying that her baby would weigh only about 4 pounds and that she would be able to see through her baby’s skin due to the early arrival. Furthermore, his lungs would not be fully developed. Thus, she found herself in labor, very tired and confused. The moment the baby, Marc, was born, his heart stopped. “They beat his little feet purple,” she recounts. But God brought a heartbeat and breath to this child, who weighed over 5 pounds. They could not see through his skin. He was perfect. Indeed, he was tiny, but that just goes to show that “Little is much when God is in it.” It was at that moment when the report came that not only had God caused the baby to grow overnight in the womb, but had also healed him of heart failure. And, what’s more, her cancer was gone! The nurses took the little baby to the nursery, and, when she was able, they took her on a stretcher and rolled her up beside the incubator. That little baby knew his mama was close. He was striving to move close to the area where she was as soon as they rolled her up there beside him. God had a special calling on his life, even before his birth. “Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee. And I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5) It was Almighty God who chose this miracle child to proclaim God’s goodness. His mom states that she has watched him grow into a man after God’s own heart, sharing God’s unfailing love and power through song and testimony. Today, he speaks of the healing power of God and lets a light shine wherever the Lord leads. Through his own endurance, having suffered everything from falling from a horse to jolting automobile accidents that have left him experiencing recurring cervical spine pain, he has helped many others endure their various pain and struggles through faith and prayer and dependence upon the unfailing love of God. He never hesitates to kneel at the altar of prayer and pour his heart out for those who are suffering from physical or other spiritual needs. Marc’s sister also testifies of his calling and of how she has watched him grow in the Lord. She states that he has had a passion for music since he was a very small boy. She recounts that by age 5, he was singing in church with all his heart. He was always ready to step forth, any time he was asked. When he turned seventeen, he began traveling to different places and booking dates to sing and testify. He went through different styles, according to his sister, but always kept God first, delivering powerful, uncompromising inspirational country music that uplifted the hearts of his audiences. He never let circumstances keep him down, and he is a prime example today of how perseverance measures success. His sister states that the old saying that whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger certainly applies to Marc. God has great things in store for this talented young man as he continues to use the gifts God has given him to make the lives of others happier and to encourage those suffering from physical and spiritual battles alike to keep faith and continue to let God work miracles in their lives. Marc remembers that his parents had left his birth place in Indiana to travel to Montana to homestead. They stopped in a little town in northeast Arkansas to rest and then continued their journey toward Montana. As they approached Cheyenne, Wyoming, his mother began to cry, and when his dad asked what was wrong, she stated that they had to go back to Arkansas. She didn’t have all the answers as to why, but she felt in her heart that they must return to Arkansas. And so they did. There, outside a little one-horse town in the corner of northeast Arkansas, they settled and built a little cabin on 20 acres of land. With just a pick-up truck, a camper trailer, a dog and two kids, they were ready to start life anew. It was a very simple life. When his dad had finished building the one-room cabin on the side of the hill, they moved in. With no electricity or running water, they heated their cabin with a wood stove and used kerosene lamps for lighting. They drew their water from a well. Marc also remembers that while growing up, there were many summers when he took his baths at the creek and they washed their clothes by hand. During the day, he and his sister would play in the yard and help out on their little farm. In the evening, they would wash up and gather around to listen to the little AM/FM radio. They would tune in to a gospel station out of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. That is where young Marc fell in love with southern gospel music. He remembers hearing the Cathedrals Quartet with such rich sounds and would often lie there thinking of how it would be “so cool” one day to grow up to be a singer. Although he grew up singing in church every Sunday, he never thought that his wild dream of standing on a stage in front of a crowd singing and watching his audience react to his music would ever come true. Then, one hot summer day in 2007, while going through a very trying time in his life and feeling as if his life were in shambles, a still, small voice spoke to his heart, saying, “Marc, you know that dream you’ve always had of one day being a professional singer? Well, I have given you a voice, and I want you to get out and use it.” Marc replied, “But, Lord, I’m not good enough.” It was then that God answered, “Marc, it’s time; don’t reply against me; just obey me and do it.” Then and there, Marc took the leap of faith and began pulling songs together and practicing and preparing for his next chapter in life. He started traveling and singing in local churches and concert venues, and before he knew it, doors began to open up around the country asking for this little country boy from Pollard, Arkansas, to come and sing for them. Life has been good to Marc, but it has also thrown him some sour lemons. He quickly learned, as he had once heard, that when life throws you lemons, make lemonade. His desire is to bring joy to a world of hurting people. He uses his musical talents and testimonies of his own experiences to spread the gospel of faith, hope, and love to a troubled world. Many lives have been touched and blessed, and many troubled souls have been led to peace with God. Indeed, the Lord continues to use Marc to bring His message of healing power and loving grace wherever he goes.
