We are a group of talented musicians who have studied early in our years this beautiful music genre.
Mariachi Nuevo San Diego is a new mariachi band that has been formed in San Diego in the Spring of 2018. Most of our members are college students from Southwestern College who are studying Mariachi music. Our inspiration comes from Mariachi Vargas, Mariachi Sol De Mexico and other well known Mariachi groups. We are young musicians fill with talent and commitment. Within such a short period of being an official group in San Diego, we have made a great community impact.

I hired this Mariachi band for my moms 70th, based on the ratings here since the one i usually hire was not available. Prior to the event, I communicated clearly and several times with Oscar Hernandez who was the main contact person. First he confirmed that there were 6 members in the band, and then assured me that they knew almost all the songs from a list i sent him. He said i had nothing to worry about and that everything was going to be fine. Well the day of the event they arrived practically rushing into the party and with only 5 members. They Hardly knew any of the songs on the list and wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what songs they did know period! On top of that the sound was horrible. Oscar croaked at singing and the trumpet player was horrible, it was bad! They were supposed to be the highlight of my moms special day and he completely ruined it! I was stupid to hire them but more stupid to have paid their rate when clearly they should have given me a big discount but i did not want any drama or start any argument so i just paid them and got it over with! But big lesson learned! I will never hire any band again without actually hearing them and seeing them perform. These reviews on yelp are a joke, Its not worth it, especially when its for a special occasion!

First and foremost I would like to apologize for the way you felt in regards to our services that were rendered to you.
After carefully researching and reviewing your comment I found that you also did a review in Spanish and placed a different date, with a different name?
Not sure why did you do that but I do want to add that I take your review very critical.
You were notified that we were going to be late, as you booked last minute and even mentioned to you the distance that it was from our previous event.
The list that you gave us included songs that were not even "Mariachi related" . In the list you included songs from different genre of music and we did all that we could to play those songs.
When you request a specific song , it needs to be given in time and not the day of.
As far as your Yelp goes, all of those reviews are from clients that have been satisfied with our band and the services rendered.

El peor grupo de mariachi que e contratado, eran solo cinco miembros. los contrate para el cumpleaños de mi madre. En primer lugar llegaron tarde, despues la manera de vestir era muy higienico, sus trajes estaban bien sucios, la plata rota y los moños todos chuecos con las camisa de cuello afuera. como tocan que ni se diga, los vocalistas necesitan demasiado mas practica especialmente el lider del grupo, y la trompeta sonaba muy pero muy mal y no le quedaba el traje! si podria regresar el tiempo, no los ubiera dejado tocar ni la primera cancion y les ubiera dicho que se fueran, la verdad que me dio mucha vergüenza traerle ese regalo a mi mamá, espero y que mejoren porque en realidad no estan nada preparados para ya poder tocar en eventos !!

Ante todo, me gustaría disculparme por la forma en que se sintió con respecto a nuestros servicios que se le prestaron.
Después de investigar y revisar cuidadosamente su comentario, descubrí que también hizo una revisión en español y colocó una fecha diferente, con un nombre diferente.
No estoy seguro de por qué hiciste eso, pero quiero agregar que considero que tu opinión es muy crítica.
Se le notificó que íbamos a llegar tarde, ya que reservó en el último minuto e incluso le mencionó la distancia que estaba de nuestro evento anterior
Tambien se le notifico que teniamos una integrante que tuvo una emergencia familiar , y que nos disculpara por que fue algo que estaba fuera de nuestro control e incluso Usted dijo que no habia problema
La lista que nos diste incluía canciones que ni siquiera estaban "relacionadas con el mariachi". En la lista incluiste canciones de diferentes géneros de música e hicimos todo lo posible para tocar esas canciones.
Cuando solicita una canción específica, debe darse a tiempo y no el día de.
De todos modos se le agradece su critica y lo tomaremos en consideracion

Oscar and Mariachi Nuevo San Diego did an amazing job and they really made our event. They were on time and played non stop. Their music was the perfect send off for the bicycle racers on Cinco De Mayo.

The Mariachi Nuevo San Diego was the best Mariachi group I have every heard. They were on time, dressed up nicely in Mariachi gear, had amazing musicians, and were very understanding. I have never met such a professional group. I loved them sooooo much. I Really Recommend You To Book Them!!!!
The group chose the perfect songs to hold the attention of 250 first, second and third graders. They got the students singing and clapping along. Afterwards students were asking to learn the songs. It was a perfect kick-off to our study of Mexico.

It was great start but 4-5 songs in, they started arguing, couldn't settle on a song or didn't know many classics. If they advertised as beginning Mariachi I would have been prepared, but sadly its not the case. Maybe if they would have a list of songs to choose from or pre-selected playlist that they are comfortable playing things would go a lot smoother. It's not that they sing bad, they have great voice and decent instruments, they just spent most of it arguing or figuring out how they would play the song. Not very romantic vibes... Felt very forced and awkward. Oh well, now I know and I hope this review helps others with their choosing. Oh and they will play exactly the time they specified, not a minute more even if a lot of time was wasted.

I understand your frustration, however have in mind that this was a last minute booking therefore, we were missing other elements in our group and certain songs weren't able to be played because of that. This is a wonderful group of musicians. I would give them 5 stars on performance. Sadly they were 1/2 late to our daughters wedding which caused some issues for us and the photographers. If they had been on time it would have been perfect. They are truly a great high energy group and added so much atmosphere to the cocktail reception.

Mariachi Nuevo San Diego was founded by Oscar Hernandez, who has been a Mariachi Musician for 14years . He started performing in the Mariachi Ensemble in Sweetwater High School and continues to do so . Most members have had experience performing with other Mariachi bands. We all have come together to make this Mariachi the new sensation in San Diego. Our goal is to inspire, and create wonderful memories through our performance!
