Mariachi Relámpago is Austin's only award-winning mariachi ensemble. Mariachi Relampago competed in the prestigious Houston Livestock and Rodeo Mariachi Invitational and took 2nd place in 2013. Mariachi Relampago was also honored with the award of "Mejor Mariachi" from Univision's Premios a la Musica Latina. Their hard work and dedication for the city of Austin, made them the first and only group from Austin to win the award. They are also winners of Austin's first mariachi competition, "Fiesta del Mariachi" held at the Long Center in 2009. Mariachi Relámpago is signed on with Viewpoint Records.
On September 17, 2016, the City of Austin proclaimed it Mariachi Relampago Day.
This mariachi group communicated well leading into the event, showed up on time and performed for the full time as discussed beforehand. Besides living up to their word, they were incredibly talented. Almost every instrument player sang at different points and did amazing! They are so talented and I would 100% recommend and choose to hire again.

At the recent performance by Mariachi Relámpago at Carpenter Elementary's cultural night the audience was treated to an enlightening session on the various instruments that make up a traditional mariachi band. The band members took the time to introduce and explain each instrument, showcasing their unique sounds and roles within the ensemble. From the vibrant trumpets to the rhythmic guitarrón and the melodic violins, students and teachers alike gained a deeper appreciation for the rich tapestry of sounds that define mariachi music. I would highly recommend them for school functions.

It was my wife's birthday, we had 30 guest in the backyard having a great time. Mariachi Relámpago texted ahead of arrival asking if it was a surprise. They did not disappoint, They entered playing and singing happy birthday through the side gate. The crowd went wild. They played request and even Mariachi Loco to which I was able to dance with my daughter, too. And now everyone want's to have another party just so we can hire them again. Look no further, this is Mariachi Band you want to hire! Mariachi Relámpago played at birthday party I hosted over the weekend and I would hire them over and over again! As soon as I booked Adolph sent me a text confirming my booking and said to text If I needed anything prior to the event. The week prior to the party I reached out to Adolph and asked for them to enter through the side gate of our backyard for a surprise entrance. He immediately text back confirming exactly what was requested. The night of the event they waited at the side gate until exactly 8:45 and entered playing music! It was such a smooooth entry! After the first 2 songs, one of which was happy birthday, they stopped to ask for request. They knew every song requested and executed beautifully! These are professional musicians with strong voices and mighty on each instrument! Our guests were so impressed with the show! Everyone absolutely loved the music. My only complaint: They arrived late and left early. The contract was for 4:45 arrival and playing time 5-6. They arrived around 4:50 and left at 5:50. I had to send someone running to give them their tip. The ceremony finished early which caused a gap. I would hire them again but would stipulate better coordination of arrival and departure. They told someone "they were taking a break" and left.

Thanks for your feedback! A couple of points of miscommunication. We had the correct amount of musicians (7) on time at 4:45. Contract was for 6. Only one additional extra player was 5 minutes late. So 8 were in attendance. The agreement was one hour from 5-6pm, but since coordinator asked to start, the hour went from 4:50-5:50. And actually, an extra song was played so it was over a one hour performance, thank you for the tip. No one ever said they were taking a break. This I’m confused about. The exceptions of this performance were basically miscommunication. I take some responsibility because when we exchanged messages I was not clear when I told you you were changing up the agreement, which was if we start early, we play the hour and then end.
After 27 years, I’m still learning to make my service even better. Thank you for this feedback as I continue to improve my communication with clients.
I will hire them again and refer them to friends and familiy

Mariachi Relampago started in 1991 under the direction of Adolph Ortiz and was originally called Mariachi Chapala. In 1992, the name was changed to Mariachi Relampago (Lightning), a symbol of typical Texas weather. Most of the original musicians were graduates of maestro Zeke Castro's Travis High School mariachi program. Currently comprised of musicians from Laredo, Odessa, San Antonio, El Paso, Corpus Christi, Saltillo (Mexico) and Austin, Mariachi Relampago has a definite Texas sound, yet still authentic to Mexico. All of the musicians of Mariachi Relampago are true professionals with years of experience under their belt. When you hire Mariachi Relampago, you're hiring the best.
Members of Mariachi Relampago have been involved in recordings for movie soundtracks, library archives, studio archives, commercials (Television & Radio), and music CDs. Some members have taught in Mariachi Festivals in the state of Texas and beyond. Mariachi Relampago also donates money to charitable organizations, and on occasion, performs for the community to benefit organizations with a good cause.
Mariachi Relampago received an invitation to compete in the prestigious Houston Livestock and Rodeo Mariachi Invitational and took 2nd place. In June of 2009, Mariachi Relampago was one of the opening acts for Mariachi Vargas, who are known as El Mejor Mariachi del Mundo (the world's best mariachi).
