Mark Damian

Mark Damian is an international touring/session drummer, drum instructor, multi-instrumentalist, music writer, producer, and audio engineer based in Los Angeles, CA. He’s performed with bands and DJ’s across the country and abroad, recorded with a number of bands and singer-songwriters, appeared in music videos, TV commercials and product demo videos, produced a catalogue of original and co-written music as well as film trailer cues and sound effects, and is the audio post production engineer for two national television shows.

HISTORY
Mark was heavily influenced by the rich musical diversity that surrounded him growing up in the suburbs of Detroit. After receiving a drum kit at age of three Damian studied with private instructors throughout his youth while playing along with any records he could get his hands on. Motown, Sun Records, plenty of Beatles, 70’s disco, 80’s pop and new wave. By age nine Mark was sitting in with bands which eventually led to playing in Detroit clubs and doing recording session by his early teens. Vowing to play music full time Damian’s local performances became regional throughout the Midwest for over a decade before relocating to Los Angeles.
In 2013 Damian began working with Alloy Tracks founder, Troy MacCubbin contributing film trailer cues, sound effects, and to co-write/produce songs for commercial placements. Alloy Tracks has a vast amount of credits that include Transformers 4, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Expendables 3, X-Men Days of Future Past.
As of May 2014, Mark has also been named director of audio post production for Big Bang Detroit’s national television shows, Start Up, produced by Emmy Award nominated host, Gary Bredow,
and A Craftsman’s Legacy.

LIVE
Rock, pop, alternative, electronic, industrial, DJ/live drum combos, R&B, blues, jazz, country…Having averaged more than 200 live performances a year Mark’s sense of time, musical instincts, and vocal harmonizing abilities are nothing short of a seasoned pro. His playing provides a solid foundation while tastefully choosing moments to add a bit of “ear candy” for the audience. Damian has performed in LA with original bands and artists like Facing Arrows, Los Angelics, Troy MacCubbin, Michael Cartwright, TJ Doyle and The Singularity, in Las Vegas and internationally with Frankie Moreno, and continues to play nationally with Laith Al-Saadi.

STUDIO
Beyond the drum kit Mark plays bass, keyboards, guitar, sings, and has quite the knack for arranging lush vocal harmonies and scoring strings. Damian’s understanding of the studio environment keeps him busy as a session player, writer, producer, and mixing engineer. Notable recordings include the singles “Cold Outside” and “Livin’ Life Now” which he produced and co-wrote with Troy MacCubbin (TATU, Wilson Phillips, Kelly Clarkson, Enrique Igelsias), “Adjusted” EP from sweatysuedelips which earned two Detroit Music Awards, “The Chrome Recordings” from TCR featuring Robin Moulder (Jack Off Jill) and production by Chris Vrenna of Nine Inch Nails and Tweaker fame, “Lowercase Fire Engine” from Cleanse co-produced with Ken Roberts (Charm Farm, Control Freq, sweatysuedelips), “In The Round” from guitar virtuoso Laith Al-Saadi, and the “No Lies” album from young pop prospect Dyllan Murray.

INSTRUCTION
As a private drum instructor for over 15 years Damian currently teaches in the Los Angeles area working with aspiring as well as experienced drummers on stick technique, groove studies, chart reading, and a variety of other exercises to achieve the student’s personal goals.
