Mark Annino, Hailing from South Florida now Nashville local, is most recently known as the drummer For Morgan Wallen, a 2014 Voice finalist beginning is rise into country. Atom Smash, his previous project, former signed band of Jive Records, released their first album 'Love is in the Missile' August 31st, 2010 reaching the top 40 Active Rock charts with their single 'Do Her Wrong”. Mark has been a member of the band since 2007 and has been touring the country with the band for two years, on and off, promoting the release of the album, opening for major bands such as "Cavo, 12 Stones, Buckcherry, Trapt, Tantric, Hinder, Filter, Saliva, Halestorm, Framing Hanley and Nonpoint". The band's modern grunge feel, deep heartfelt lyrics and original sound provides Mark's ability to excel.
He is known to be a hard hitting drummer playing with high volume mixed with a remarkable consistent technique. In his performance influences anywhere from John Bonham, Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Chad Smith, Morgan Rose to Buddy Rich, Dave Weckl and Dennis Chambers are easily recognized. His impression lies in bridging the gap between loud aggressive execution while keeping the basics intact...this technical but intense drumming is what makes Mark's playing style stand out. But his reputation of delivering a very energetic and explosive live performance is what makes him memorable, unforgettable and current.
Despite being the youngest member in his band at 24, his career traces back 14 years.
His interest in music started at an early age, but his ability to play and perform took his family by surprise when at age 12 he awed the crowd in a middle school performance. He has always had the support of his family. His father bought him his first drum set at age 10 in attempts to replace the objects he had managed to borrow to create his own. Ever since he played for the first time, his dedication and passion for the drums has never changed, initially self taught, he played along record tracks of the greatest, until mastering beats of Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago, Led Zeppelin, Blood Sweat and Tears, and Billy Joel among others.
Seeing the way he loved playing, his family encourage him to pursue instruction. Adding to his lessons, he joined Silver Trail middle school band and later Flanagan high school band, The Falcon Sound.
In freshman year of junior high, he helped start a band called Lithium. The band was composed of close friends in school and experimented with genres ranging anywhere from hard rock to ska. Nonetheless the four years spent with Lithium was his true introduction to the world of modern music. Later during his sophomore year of high school, he was an active member of local band Unwanted Superheroes, where he started creating a name for himself and a solid following. Although the band increased in popularity the break was inevitable after graduation and the members were left to seek new opportunities.
This is how he came across Sunday Driver, signed to Indie label 'Doghouse Records'.
Mark joined the members as their live drummer, following the band release of the album 'A Letter To Bryson City', the band set out touring locally and regionally promoting the release. It is with this band that his experiences and people he met led him to his current work and his first taste of the road. When the spot opened for a drummer of Atom Smash, friend and bass player Arnold Nese, recommended Mark audition to fill the spot. It was then and there that singer song writer Sergio Sanchez, made the decision to bring Mark on board as the band's new official drummer, within hours of hearing him play.
Sunday Driver transition to his current band Atom Smash was smooth, Working Group Artist Management took over the representation of the band, with the help of producer Paul Trust and music producer David Bendeth, Atom Smash was able to land their major label big break and begin their journey of writing, recording and performing their music.
Mark's style of playing, ability of leaving it all on stage and his down to earth personality will definitely stand out in today's industry. His potential and love for music have created a strong life commitment to living his dream for years to come.
